    TURNING CONTROLLER ON AND OFF Turning on the Controller Press the on/off button The Battery Gauge LEDs will turn on one by one After the controller has started successful the Battery Gauge shows the charge of the battery Turning off the Controller Press the on/off button The Controller turns off.

    DRIVE MODE Drive Mode is activated automatically when the controller is turned on. To select between Drive Modes, push the green arrow up or down. The drive mode indicator LED will turn on as soon as the unit has been turned on via the On / Off button.

    SPEED DIAL You can adjust the maximum speed of the unit to your preference or the environment. The currently selected top speed is indicated by the position of speed dial. The maximum speed of the unit is limited by the selected drive mode.

    2.10 LIFT & JAW MODE Activate the Lift Mode Press the Lift Function button to activate Lift & Jaw Mode. When Lift & Jaw Mode is selected the ‘Lift’ sign will illuminate orange. Move the joystick forward to raise the Jaws. Move the joystick in reverse to lower the Jaws.

    2.12 JAW OPEN AND CLOSE For the jaw opening and closing, the lift & jaw function needs to be activated. (Refer to section 2.10.) Open the Jaws to the required width by deflecting the Joystick to the left. Close the Jaws to the required width by deflecting the Joystick to the right.

    2.15 BATTERY GAUGE Display Meaning Power is off. The Unit is programmed to turn off if it has not been used for 15 minutes. Power is on and batteries are fully charged. Power is on and batteries are half charged. Recharge before undertaking a long trip.

    2.16 JAW ADJUSTMENT Adjust the Jaws to suit 125mm, 150mm, or 200mm wheels to ensure secure attachment to the Bed. Ensure both left and right jaws are adjusted to suit the same wheel size. 125mm 150mm 200mm The jaws of the TS5000 can be adjusted to suit 125mm, 150mm or 200mm diameter castor wheels.

    2.17 BYPASS SYSTEMS In case of a system failure, the Bypass System makes it possible to release an attached bed and manually move the machine. The Bypass System is activated by depressing the Emergency Stop Button. Activate the Bypass System Depress the Emergency Stop Button to activate the Bypass System.

    2.18 BATTERIES The Unit uses sealed, maintenance free batteries to provide power for use. It is recommended that the Unit is charged at the end of each day’s use. When the battery gauge is in the red, the Unit will 8 hrs need to be charged for eight hours.
  • Page 24 Connect the Battery Charger to the Unit The charger plug connects in only one orientation. Align the connector with the arrow on the top. When connecting or removing the plug always hold the connector, never pull on the cord. Connect the Battery Charger to the mains power supply. The Power LED will illuminate green when the AC power is on and start charging automatically.

    3.3. DRIVING WITH A BED BEFORE DRIVING: Ensure that all tubes, power cords and accessories for the Bed have been disconnected and are secured to the Bed as per Hospital standard practices. Ensure all patient peripherals (e.g. drips, monitors etc.) are attached to the Bed and not on separate trolleys.
  • Page 38 Driving tips • Push the Joystick in the desired direction of travel. • Remember that the Unit’s speed will increase in proportion to the Joystick’s distance from the centre position. Be aware that there will be a slight “ramp up” time for the Unit to reach the desired speed.

  • Page 44: Moving Bed And Patient Combinations Over 500Kg

    3.4. MOVING BED AND PATIENT COMBINATIONS OVER 500KG Loads over 500kg must only be moved with the assistance of an additional person. Best performance is achieved by engaging the Unit at the foot end of the Bed. The assistant must guide the head of the Bed. Little force is required as the Unit will drive the Bed, but the assistant will be required to direct the Bed, especially around corners and into tight spaces such as lifts.

    To Unlock the Controller Press the on/off button. The Controller will turn on, and the LEDs of the Battery Gauge will slowly flash from right to left to indicate that the Controller is locked.     MAINTENANCE 4.1. UNPACKING AND COMMISSIONING The Unit must only be unpacked and commissioned by an Agent. 4.2. DECONTAMINATION Turn the Unit off at the Controller and push in the Emergency Stop Button before commencing cleaning to prevent inadvertent operation of any functions.     4.5. REPLACEMENT OF PARTS For part replacement, contact the manufacturer. The mains power supply cord must be replaced (as per the specified power lead for the region in which the TS5000 is to operate) if faulty. It must not be serviced or repaired. 4.6.
