LONG RANGE WIRELESS CAPACITIVE TANK LEVEL SENSOR
Models: SC10, SC10/R

SC10/R
Thank you for purchasing a Navis Wireless Capacitive Sensor. Read the instructions carefully and save them for future
reference. The instructions for the receiving unit are not part of these instructions, they are included with the receiving unit.
1. INTRUDUCTION
The SC10 wireless sensor is designed to measure the level of water and water-based liquids in tanks of different shapes and
made of different materials. It consists of a sensor and a measuring cable. The SC10/R version has a separate transmitter,
which is connected to the sensor with a short cable. This allows installation above the ground level and thus greater range.
The sensor is located at the top of the tank so that the measuring cable and inox braid hangs freely to the bottom of the tank.
In the case of a version with a separate transmitter, it can be installed in a position that allows maximum range.
The sensor can work with several different Navis receivers and level displays: LW3/D, LW5/D, LW410/D, LW110-4-20/REC
2. OPERATION
The sensor works on the principle of measuring the capacitance of a submerged cable. The level is measured every five
seconds and the data is sent to the receiver / display wirelessly. Each sensor has its own address, so the individual sensors do
not interfere with each other. Data from a single sensor can be received simultaneously and independently of each other by
several receivers located in the range of the sensor signal.
3. INSTALLATION
Installation procedure:
- Select the location at the top of the tank where you will attach the sensor housing. This is usually on the wall of the shaft,
under the cover, but it can also be above the cover. Measure the distance to the bottom of the tank and to upper water
level.
- shorten the measuring cable to the length so that the weight hangs just above the bottom of the tank. Plug the cable into
the free terminal in the sensor (see the picture) and tighten the cable gland. Shorten the inox braid to the same length as
measuring cable.
- At version with a separate transmitter (SC10/R) , connect the sensor connection cable to the connection terminals in the
transmitter. Connect the antenna.
- Insert the batteries (not supplied).
- mark on the measuring cable the heights to which the water will reach at full display and empty display.
- prepare a small container of water and by dipping the twisted measuring cable and braid to the marked heights set the level
empty and the level full. The procedure is described in Chapter 4. Test the operation on receiver. Please note that level is
displayed with 15-60 seconds delay, depends on display unit model and setting.
- Attach on the cover and install the sensor in the tank.
- For the version with a separate transmitter, place the transmitter above the tank in a suitable place. The antenna should be
facing upright.
- If necessary, repeat the level setting empty and full when the tank is full or empty.
