    The P306B has four outputs, each individually configurable to allow a user to specify the mix of input channels for each output connection. Although these devices were originally developed to be used in conjunction with JAVS NoteWise software, they are now supported as USB mixers attached to a Recorder 8 and can be employed in a JAVS Suite 8 environment.

    ABOUT THIS MANUAL This user guide contains the information needed for installing and configuring the P306/P306B. The first part of the manual will provide a general overview followed by a more detailed approach in the second half of the manual. Clicking on any item in the Table of Contents will take you to that page number of the manual.

    2. Next, connect the P306B to the designated computer via the provided USB cable. 3. Double-click the Driver Installer and the JAVS P306B Setup Wizard will open. Click Next. 4. On the next screen (as shown below), accept the default installation folder and click Install.

    STEP 2: INSTALL THE CONFIGURATION TOOL 1. Double-click the icon for the P306 Configuration Tool Setup.exe. 2. Accept the default selection and click Next. 3. On the next screen, select Next to install the Configuration Tool in the default folder.

    KNOWING THE SOFTWARE INPUTS The Microphone screen is the default view upon launching the application. This screen allows for gain adjustment for each individual physical input. Each input also has a “VU Meter” indicating audio level. 1. Microphone screen selection button. 2.

    OUTPUTS The Output screen allows for attenuation adjustment and muting for inputs for each of the four individually configurable outputs. Overall attenuation level for the output can also be adjusted. 1. Output Selection Buttons: Once an output is selected that button will then turn grey. 2.

    The Inputs section allows for enabling and disabling of physical inputs as well as input configuration. Disabling an input differs from muting because the input cannot be unmuted. When configured for JAVS Mic, the Microphone Pattern, Button Action, and Record Status can be configured. Any changes must be saved or uploaded to P306B before they take effect.

    The Outputs section enables configuration of outputs to be mutable and allows USB audio to be routed to the specified output. The Global Mute setting is only used when P306B is being used with JAVS NoteWise. Any changes must be saved/uploaded to P306B before they take effect.

    The Advanced section allows for changes to P306B that affect overall configuration. All adjustments on this page are global. Any changes must be saved/uploaded to P306B before they take effect. 1. Record LED Color: Selects the color used to indicate recording on JAVS JM-14 Microphones. 2. Brightness: Changes the Record LED brightness on the JAVS JM-14 microphones.

    FIRMWARE This section allows for the update of P306B firmware as well as display of the current firmware version. UPDATING FIRMWARE 1. Click the Browse button and locate the firmware file (.bin extension). 2. Once file has been loaded, click the Update button. Note: All controls will be disabled, and progress indication will be shown.

    ADVANCED USER FEATURES Additional settings can be made available by pressing CTRL + M key combination while in the Application Settings screen. 1. Low Pass Filter: A filter that passes signals with a frequency lower than a certain cutoff frequency and attenuates signals with frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency.

    SETTING UP PC AUDIO To enable PC audio to be output through the P306, a user must enable and set the P306 as the default playback device for the computer’s sound configuration. To do so, follow the steps below. 1. Select Control Panel from the computer’s Start Menu.

    Attenuation Adapter can be used to match the audio levels of different devices to ensure compatibility. It offers fixed attenuation of 0, -30, -40, -50 dB. JAVS offers 2 versions of the ATT Pro; JAV-ATTPRO-RJ45 is a RJ45 to 3-pin phoenix connector while JAV-ATTPRO-PHX is a phoenix-to-phoenix connector.

    USING P306/P306B IN A SUITE 8 ENVIRONMENT The P306 and P306B devices are supported as mixers as of Suite 8 release 8.1.0. The device is connected to the Recorder 8 via any of the available rear USB ports on the Recorder. Since the driver support for the devices is now integrated into the Recorder, you will not need to download the driver for the unit.
