  • Page 2 1. Introduction Thank you and congratulations on purchasing your new Motion Healthcare Aerolite Trekker Powerchair. Your new device is designed to provide transportation indoors and outdoors for a person whose ability to walk is impaired, but who in terms of eyesight, dexterity and cognitive ability are able to safely operate the device.

  • Page 5 Move your device as close as you can to the seat you are transferring from and transfer as far back onto the seat surface as you can, this will reduce the risk that you will miss the seat or fall. The full correct transfer method varies based on your personal circumstances so work with your health care professional to learn how to position your body and how to support yourself during a transfer.
  • Page 6 PLEASE NOTE: The Aerolite Trekker is designated to travel with both of its 12ah batteries. The second battery for the Aerolite Trekker is holstered in the chair. This is deemed a spare battery as the chair is still operational with one battery.

Battery Charging & Care New Batteries must be charged fully (approximately 24 hours) prior to first use to fully activate the batteries, if this does not happen battery life can be reduced. Battery life can be affected by temperature, user weight, the condition the battery is kept in as well as the charging regime used.
  • Page 8 Removing Batteries To remove the primary battery, pull the release lever up and slide the battery towards you. To remove the secondary battery, pull the release lever up and slide the battery towards the front of the chair and then rotate it outwards and pull towards you. 9.
  • Page 9 Pull the red release lever located at the rear of the chair towards you. Push the backrest downwards until you feel the chair click into its folded position.
  • Page 10 Unfolding Pull the red release lever located under the seat cushion. Lift the backrest and push backwards untl the chair clicks into the open position. Climber wheels The climber wheels are designed to reduce the product weight and make loading and unloading your powerchair into a car boot significantly easier.
  • Page 11 10. Controls Turning On & Off To turn your device on press the power button until the lights on the battery display indicator are illuminated. To turn your device off press the power button until the lights on the battery display indicator are off.
  • Page 12 12. Freewheel Mode The Freewheel levers are located at the rear of the powerchair near each rear wheel. The levers have two positions and each only relate to the wheel it is closest too: Forwards - Neutral Mode (the powerchair can be pushed or pulled by hand) Backwards - Drive Mode (the powerchair will only move using its controls) 13.
  • Page 13 Freewheel Lever • Ensure the freewheel lever turns on and off the electromagnetic brake(s) as it should. Anti-Tip Wheels • Ensure the anti-tip wheels are in place, operational and undamaged. 14. Cleaning, Maintenance & Disposal Cleaning To clean your device, use a soft brush to remove any dirt or dust and use a damp cloth and soft detergent to wipe all surfaces clean.

  • Page 15 16. Troubleshooting In the event of an error with your powerchair, please refer to the lights on your joystick control to diagnose the issue. On the next page, the table will demonstrate all the issues the powerchair can report and guide you to a possible resolution.
