OSHA S-LINE ELEVATOR PLATFORMS – BUCKET ELEVATORS 1. SAFETY 1.5. Personal Protective Equipment The following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be worn when assembling the equipment. Safety Glasses • Wear safety glasses at all times to protect eyes from debris.
1.7.2 Safety Decal Locations and Details Replicas of the safety decals that are attached to the OSHA S-Line elevator platforms and their messages are shown in the figure(s) that follow. Safe operation and use of the OSHA S-Line elevator platforms requires that you familiarize yourself with the various safety decals and the areas or particular functions that the decals apply to, as well as the safety precautions that must be taken to avoid serious injury, death, or damage.
The Fall Hazard DANGER decal is pre-affixed to the platform side of platform safety gates in a visible location. If it is not, contact AGI to obtain a copy of this decal (Part Number K20106). Figure 1. Fall Hazard Danger Decal...
• Perform assembly on a firm and level surface in an area large enough to allow access to all sides of the OSHA S-Line elevator platforms. • Ensure there is adequate space to remove the assembled OSHA S-Line elevator platforms from the assembly area.
2. Any boxed parts that become wet should be dried and stored in a new box that is moisture free. 3. Due to installation and use safety concerns, AGI does not recommend the use of oil on parts such as safety ladders.
2. BEFORE YOU BEGIN OSHA S-LINE ELEVATOR PLATFORMS – BUCKET ELEVATORS 2.4. Platforms and Ladders Layout Preplan the bucket elevator platforms and ladders layout. 3. Preparation 3.1. Check the Shipment Unload the OSHA S-Line elevator platforms parts at the assembly site and compare the packing slip to the shipment contents. Ensure that all items have arrived and that none are damaged. Take pictures of shipments prior to, or just after, unloading if there are any damages.
Always use the proper tools, rated lifting equipment, and lifting points for the job. • Do not stand on, under, or near any component that is not secured. • Always have two or more people assembling the OSHA S-Line elevator platforms. • Make sure you have sufficient lighting for the work area.

Plumb and level the head assembly. Plumb and level the work platform and then temporarily support it until it is fully assembled to the elevator head and legs.

4.3.4 Assembling the Work Platform Base M16–M24 Note AGI recommends welding the main support channels to the elevator legs. 1. Install the platform sections to the platform support channels as shown in the following figure. 2. Use the correct supplied hardware at each connection.

4.4.2 Raising the Head onto Supports Important It is necessary to temporarily support and stabilize the head and platform during platform assembly. AGI recommends using supports that raise the platform at least 18” (460 mm) up off the ground until the head platform is fully assembled.

Note When installing mounting channels, orientate the mounting channel flanges for each so they face in opposite directions. Use 1/2” hex bolts and flange nuts at all mounting channels/brackets connection holes.

Measure twice and make certain the inner threaded rods are a little less than D1 distance apart and the outer threaded rods are a little greater than E distance apart.

• Remove any buildup of organic materials on the galvanized surfaces as they produce acids that could cause damage to the galvanized coating. • Check the horizontal surfaces of the OSHA S-Line elevator platforms for any rain water ponding. Dry and correct the source of ponding immediately.
6. APPENDIX OSHA S-LINE ELEVATOR PLATFORMS – BUCKET ELEVATORS 6. Appendix 6.1. Bolt Torque Table 1 gives the correct torque values for various hardware. Tighten all bolts to the torque specified, unless otherwise noted. Check tightness periodically, using Table 1 as a guide.
