The total attenuation of the GPS antenna cable should be less than 10 dB as higher attenuation may degrade the quality and the accuracy of the position data.
  • Page 5 10. Connect an adapter cable to the GPS antenna cable. 11. Mount the AI71/AI70 unit in a rack or onto the deck/bulkhead. Secure the unit with four screws. 12. Connect the GPS antenna cable to the connector marked GPS at the rear of the AI71/AI70 unit.
  • Page 6 On the MKD, do the following: 1. Enter the Main Menu page by pressing the Menu button. 2. At the bottom of the page, the AI71/AI70 software version is displayed. Fill in the number in the list in chapter 3.
  • Page 7 6. On the MKD, press the Menu button and select Dynamic Data. Press the Arrow down button on the MKD. Verify that external GNSS (GPS) is used. 7. Connect the GPS antenna cable to the connector marked GPS at the rear of the AI71/AI70 unit. Verify that the GPS LED starts to blink green.
