    INSTALLATION 2.0 CHECKLIST BEFORE INSTALLATION  NOTE Read the installation guide and user manual completely before installing the CoastKey system. Make sure the Battery Switch is in the OFF position. The installation of the CECU is permitted only in areas that are protected against water intrusion. Ensure the CECU unit is secure and firmly attached to the inside of the console with zip-ties or screws.
  • Page 6 2.0 INSTALLATION Connect the CECU(s) to the Start Panel as shown in the installation diagram For multiple outboard installations where multiple CECUs are needed, connect the CECUs in the order described in the enclosed diagrams. Connect the outboard(s) to the corresponding engine connectors on the CECU(s). The connectors are numbered for easy identification.
  • Page 7 PAIRING THE FOB Press number 1 to pair the fob. (The LED blinks ORANGE quickly). Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the fob. Release the ON/OFF button on the fob when the ORANGE LED on the Start Panel turns GREEN and beeps twice, then blinks BLUE.

    3.0 START PANEL The Start Panel can be used to start the outboard(s) without keys and even without the fob being present. STARTING ALL OUTBOARD(S) FROM THE START PANEL: Make sure the battery power for all outboards is switched ON. Enter the set PIN code (factory default code is 2-4-1-3) ( Green LED flashes every 2 seconds)
  • Page 9  NOTE The Start Panel has a backlight. The back-light on the Start Panel comes on when the main battery switch on the boat is turned on. Once the boat is powered up, the back-light will come on each time a key is pressed.

    4.0 THE WIRELESS FOB The fob can be used to remotely start the outboard(s). When you use the fob to switch on the ignition, no PIN code entry is necessary. This is no different than a fob for a car. If you have the fob, the system “knows”...
  • Page 11 After 12 seconds the beeping will stop. The Start Panel LED will turn ORANGE. OVERRIDE mode has been initiated and whoever is left on the boat can press the START button to start the outboard(s) and retrieve the individual (no PIN code entry necessary). ...

    5.0 PROGRAMMING AND PAIRING CHANGING THE PIN CODE & RE-PAIRING THE FOB Remember to write down the new PIN code before you start this procedure. Make sure the Battery Switch is in the ON position. Enter the set PIN code (Factory Default Code is 2-4-1-3) ( Green LED flashes every 2 seconds Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the Start Panel for approximately 5 seconds (LED blinks BLUE quickly).

  • Page 14: Battery Replacement

    6.0 BATTERY REPLACEMENT The battery should be replaced after every 250 hours of use. The fob has a low battery indicator. If the battery is low, there is a RED LED in the ON/OFF button that will blink once every 2 seconds. The battery should be replaced as soon as possible.

    RADIO RANGE 7.0 The CoastKey system will normally provide you with a safety range of 10-15 meters from the location of the Start Panel. Keep in mind that the range will depend on your surroundings and where the Start Panel is placed, so the exact safety range will vary.
