Installation instructions
Before you start
The Surface mount kit enables ECOEXITBLADE to be surface ceiling wall mounting and provides means
for direct wiring to the mains via a terminal block.
Surface Mount box installation
1. Identify the location for the fitting – ceiling or wall – and how
the mains cabling will be brought into the box.
2. Use a hole saw to cut a cable entry hole in the Surface mount
box either on the top or side as required. Drill mounting holes
in the box to suit.
3. Check that the mains wiring is disconnected from the supply.
4. Place the box in position on the wall or ceiling and mark the
mounting hole locations – then mount the box using
appropriate fasteners.
5. Bring the mains cable into the box and terminate in the fixed
side of the pluggable terminal block. Note that the fixed side of
the terminal block can be removed from the box for easier
termination. Clip the terminal block back into position when
the wires are terminated.
Base assembly conversion
1. Prepare the Base assembly for installation in the Surface
mount box by removing the recessed mounting springs. Use
a small flat blade screwdriver to disengage the spring tails
from the retaining slots then slide the spring coils off the
retaining bars.
2. Remove the two Blade retaining brackets and put aside.
3. Cut the mains plug off the flex 510mm from the entry to the
Base assembly.
4. Strip the outer insulation 45mm and strip the wires (A and
N) 15mm.
5. Twist the wire ends, fold to double the wire cross section
then terminate in the plug side of the terminal block – blue
to neutral, brown to active.
6. Plug the terminal block into the fixed side and dress the flex
cable in the cable retainers.
7. Push the base assembly up into the Surface mount box – it
will click into position and be retained.
8. Use the 2 large screws provided to secure the Base to the
Surface mount box and re-fit one of the Blade retaining
brackets.
