the Access S4500 KL or the Rotamax S6500KL, high speed Handpiece. Please read entire manual to ensure safe operation of Handpiece.
Also guaranteeing maximum performance from your Sable highspeed Handpiece.
Indication for use – Sable Industries Fiber Optic Highspeed Dental Handpieces & Accessories are indicated for the preparation of dental
cavities for restoration of such as fillings.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
1. Always exercise caution when operating the Handpiece. This Handpiece is intended for dental and surgical treatment in the area of
dental medicine.
2. Do not depress the push button cap while the bur is in motion. Actuation during operation may result in damage to the chucking
mechanism and the back cap.
3. To avoid overheating and possible burns, the push-button on the cap should not be pressed while the turbine is
rotating. Protect soft tissues (tongue, cheek, lips, etc.) by deflection with a retractor or a dental mirror.
4. Ensure that the burs used are for the specific purpose as stated in the manufacturers' instructions. Burs which deviate from stated
measurements must not be used. Never use burs with worn down shafts since these may come loose during operation, possibly causing
injury.
5. Do not use burs that are damaged, worn or bent.
6. Never run the Handpiece without a bur securely mounted in the chucking mechanism. Damage may occur to the internal chucking
mechanism.
7. Inspect the Handpiece prior to each use to be sure that the water ports are not blocked which could cause the Handpiece to overheat or
lead to burns.
8. Sterilize handpiece before use and before every subsequent use there after
HANDPIECE SET-UP:
1. Before first time use and before each sterilization cycle, lubricate as indicated in the "Lubrication" section of this Maintenance
Manual.
2. Use only dry, clean, contaminate-free compressed air.
(Note: Contaminated and /or humid air will result in premature bearing failure.)
3. Set air pressure for 40 psi. to 44psi where the coupler mounts onto the Handpiece hose.
Rated speed of rotation:
4. Use only burs that are DIN EN ISO 1797-1 norm and are made from steel or hardened metal,
- with a shaft diameter not to exceed 1.59 - 1.60 mm ( 0.625 - 0.629 inches),
- a maximum length not to exceed 21.0 mm (0.827 inches),
- a cutting diameter of 2.0mm (0.0787 inches).
HANDPIECE CONNECTION & COUPLER:
1. Mount coupler onto the tubing terminal, carefully tighten the Handpiece tubing nut until secure.
2. To attach Handpiece to coupler, push on Handpiece until positive attachment is achieved. Check for secure seating on the coupler by
lightly pulling on the Handpiece.
3. To remove the Handpiece, pull off.
CHUCK OPERATION AND BUR CHANGING:
1. This Handpiece uses a push button locking type chuck. Therefore no additional accessories are needed.
2. To eject the bur be sure Handpiece is not running and the bur is not in motion. Then simply press down on the push-button on the cap,
located on the Handpiece head.
3. Insert new bur by again depressing button on cap, slip bur into chucking mechanism until bur stops, release button.
CLEANING:
General Cleaning:
1. Before Lubrication or Sterilization, apply a cleaning agent (see below) to a clean cloth and carefully wipe off any residual blood, tissue
or foreign matter. Take the proper safety precautions when cleaning, Use proper PPE (Proper Protective Equipment). See your
Occupational Health and Safety act or other safety ordinances for specific instructions.
2. Use one of the following cleaning agents.
• Phenolic Alcohol
• Up to 3% glutaraldehyde
• Alcohols based on the agents containing acetone or chlorine.
Cleaning Optical Surfaces:
The exposed optical surfaces could accumulate debris which ultimately decreases light output. To maintain maximum luminosity, clean
surface with an alcohol soaked swab. Use a firm rubbing motion to remove the debris deposits.
Caution: Prior to cleaning allow optical surface to cool down for a few minutes. Ensure optical surface is completely dry before
next use.
LUBRICATION:
Use Kavo spray or other FDA –cleared Handpiece lubricant. Observe all instructions and precautions associated with the lubricant of
choice.
1. After the bur stops rotating, press the push-button firmly and remove the bur.
2. Remove Handpiece from coupler. Insert the lubrication nozzle into the rear of the Handpiece. Apply an aerosol lubricant for no longer
than 2 seconds.
3. Insert bur until it stops, then press push-button firmly and slide bur into the rest of the chuck.
4. Run Handpiece to normal speed for at least thirty seconds or until excess lubricant is expelled from the Handpiece.
5. Lubricate chucking mechanism at least once a week to remove any debris.
STERILIZATION:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This hand piece does not come sterilized from the manufacturer. It is also recommended that the Handpiece be
sterilized after each patient.
1. Remove bur from Handpiece
2. Remove Handpiece from coupler
3. Place Handpiece in a FDA/HC cleared sterilization pouch and seal pouch
4. Place in Autoclave and run gravity steam for 20 minutes at the Autoclave temperature of 135 Degrees Celsius (275 degrees Fahren-
heit). This does not include the dry cycle
5. Leave Handpiece in Sterilization pouch until it is required for use.
6. Ensure the Handpiece is then stored in a sterilized environment until use is required.
7. The Handpiece should be run for 10 seconds to expel any fluids before use in Operatory Lab.
Wipe any excess of outer casing with sterile wipe.
8. Lubricate the chuck mechanism at least once a week to remove any debris.
9. The coupler cannot be sterilized. Note: The coupler can be wiped with an alcohol based liquid or sterile wipe.
CYCLES:
The Handpiece can be subject to 250 cycles = (Performed Sterilization Process's) per EN ISO 7785-1 requirement 5.9, before showing
signs of deterioration. When there is a noticeable loss in the power or performance of the Handpiece, it should be immediately returned to
your authorized dealer or repair service

WARRANTY INFORMATION:
The Sable Highspeed Handpiece is warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of twelve months* from date of purchase
including the turbine and its components. Sable offers a 24 month warranty on the glass bar light conductors.
( * ) Warranty is conditional on proper use and maintenance of Handpiece. Warranty is limited to repair or replacement at manufacturer's
discretion. Under no circumstance will the manufacturer be held responsible for incremental or consequential damages that occur. Please
contact your authorized distributor for any warranty repairs or technical support.
Note: Handpieces should be repaired by an authorized Repair service; not doing so could nullify
your warranty and compromise Handpiece performance. See your dealer for further information.
