Please help by disposing of the packing correctly. Ask your supplier or the relevant organisations in your area for the addresses of collection, recycling and disposal centres.

    Ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out by authorised technicians from Smeg's technical support service only. Always disconnect the appliance from the power grid in the event of a breakdown, maintenance, when replacing the light bulb or during cleaning.
  • Page 4 Safety instructions Do not place dishes containing liquids on the top part of the appliance and do not to leave vases of flowers or other liquid containers on the appliance. Do not leave the doors of the appliance open. The product must be moved and installed by two or more people. The appliance must not rest on heating, gas or water pipes, or on any other electrical appliance.

    2. TRANSPORT Attention: THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO THE APPLIANCE CAUSED BY FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE TRANSPORT INSTRUCTIONS. The appliance should always be transported in a vertical position! During transport, the appliance must be protected against atmospheric agents (rain, snow, humidity). In the transport vehicle, the appliance must be secured solidly and in a correct position, to avoid it sliding or being knocked.

    Instructions for the installer 4. INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION 4.1 Choice of location Always locate the fridge freezer in a dry, sufficiently ventilated area. Ensure that it is not directly exposed to the sun's rays and do not locate it outside (for example: an unheated room or a balcony). Do not cover the ventilation slots on the upper part: good air circulation must be maintained inside the appliance.

    4.2 Preparing the appliance for use It is recommended to prepare the appliance for use with the help of another person. Remove the packaging. Lift up the appliance in order to remove the polystyrene base. Remove the adhesive tape. Remove all the systems for holding the shelves in place (Fig. 2 pos. 2). Remove all the adhesives from the object holder shelves: they are only necessary for the transport of the appliance.

    Instructions for the installer 4.3 Positioning and levelling the appliance When positioning the product, ensure that it does not damage the supply cable. Two rollers are provided on the base of the product at the back (Fig. 3) to make it more stable and easier to move, and therefore to make it possible to position it properly.

FREEZING FOODS To keep and freeze foods properly, you are advised to pack fruit and vegetables in portions of no more than 1 kg and meat and fish in portions of up to 2 kg. Smaller food packages freeze more quickly which means that the foods' nutritional and taste properties are preserved better, even after defrosting and preparation.

    Instructions for the user 10. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING 10.1 Defrosting the fridge cell The refrigerator compartment is equipped with automatic defrosting. During normal fridge operation frost forms on the rear wall while the compressor is working, and melts when it is not working. While the compressor is not working, the accumulated frost on the rear wall melts and the water runs off into the opening for this purpose at the bottom of the cell.
