» Scan harmful apps: Google Play Protect is on by default on your phone. To turn it off, tap
the switch next to Scan apps with Play Protect, and then tap Turn off.
Note: For security reasons, it's recommended that you always keep Google Play Protect on.
» Detect unknown apps: Google Play Protect automatically sends apps installed from unknown
sources to Google for better detection. To turn off this feature, tap
to Improve harmful app detection.
» Manage permissions for unused apps: Google Play Protect automatically resets permissions,
deletes temporary files, and stops notifications for apps you haven't used for at least three months.
To turn off this feature for individual apps, tap
app and tap Pause app activity if unused.
Device lock
The easiest way to protect your phone is to lock your touchscreen when you are not using it. You can
choose the best method for you to unlock your phone.
Screen lock
Find it: Swipe up from the home screen and tap

Select a screen lock and follow the on-screen instructions to set it:
» None: Turn off the screen lock.
» Swipe: Drag up from the bottom of the screen to unlock.
» Pattern: Draw a pattern to unlock.
» PIN: Enter four to sixteen digits to unlock.
Note: To unlock the phone after entering the final digit without need to tap
a six-digit or longer PIN. During the setting, check the circle next to Auto-unlock after entering
PIN. Or after the setting, tap
unlock to turn it on.
» Password: Enter four to sixteen letters, digits, or symbols to unlock.
If you have set a pattern, PIN or password, tap
> Permissions for unused apps, then select an
Settings > Security & privacy > Device unlock >
next to Screen lock, and then tap the switch next to Auto-confirm
