Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the Roland HP-230 Digital Piano.
In order to take full advantage of the HP-230's numerous features, and to enjoy years of trouble-free service,
please take the time to read through this manual.
Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: "IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS" (p. 2), "USING THE
UNIT SAFELY" (p. 3), and "IMPORTANT NOTES" (p. 4). These sections provide important information concerning the
proper operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature

The selection of sounds, beginning with a luxurious grand
piano, allows you to play music in virtually any style.

A Damper Pedal

When the Damper pedal is depressed, the HP-230 pro-
vides a realistic simulation af "sympathetic reso-
nance." This effect occurs when strings (on an acoustic
piano) adjacent to the notes played also resonate, creat-
ing much richer, expansive sonorities.
* Tuning Functions
Even though there is no need to tune an electric piano at
regular intervals, or after it has been moved, the instru-
ment allows for the creative use of alternate tunings.
Master Tuning

The overall pitch of the piano can be changed to match
the pitch of other musical instruments.

interface standard designed to provide for the transfer
of performance information among electronic musical
