HS-DXMJ (Metal Junction Box
Enclosure) Sensor Series
Duct Relative Humidity Transmitters

Product Description
This document describes the hardware installation procedures for the
HS-DXMJ Series Duct Relative Humidity Transmitters.
These duct humidity transmitters use a highly accurate and reliable
Thermoset Polymer based capacitance humidity sensor and state-of-
the-art digital linearization and temperature compensated circuitry to
monitor humidity levels.
The sensor is encapsulated in a 228.60 mm (9") long by 12.7 mm
(0.5") diameter 304 S/S probe. A 60 micron HDPE filter protects the
sensor from contaminants.
Excellent long term stability and quick response time combined with
temperature compensation make the HS-DXMJ Series the ideal choice
for the HVAC market.
All models are available with accuracies of 2%, 3% or 5%
General Installation Requirements
For proper installation and subsequent operation of each device, pay
special attention to the following recommendations:
-
Upon unpacking the product, inspect the contents of the carton for
shipping damages. Do not install damaged device.
-
Avoid areas where corroding, deteriorating or explosive vapors,
fumes or gases may be present.
-
Ensure that all equipment is installed according to local, regional,
and national regulations.
Personal injury or loss of life may occur if you do not follow a
procedure as specified.

Equipment damage or loss of data may occur if you do not
follow a procedure as specified.
Take reasonable precautions to prevent electrostatic
discharges to the controller when installing, servicing or
operating the controller. Discharge accumulated static
electricity by touching one's hand to a well-grounded object
before working with the controller.
Mounting
The transmitter installs directly into any air duct with a minimum
width/diameter of 25.5 cm (10"). Select a suitable installation area in
the middle of the duct wall. To achieve the best reading, do not place
in an area where air stratification may be present. Mount the sensor
at least 1.5 m (5 ') in either direction from elbows, dampers, filters
or other duct restrictions. Avoid areas where the transmitter is
exposed to vibrations or rapid temperature changes.
Once a suitable spot is selected, drill a 32 -38 mm (1.25" – 1.5") hole
for the probe.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the (2) cover screws as shown in
Figure 1. The RH transmitter PCB is attached to the cover so take care
not to pull on cover. Allow cover to hang while installing, making wiring
connections and set up. See Figure 2. Slide the probe in the drilled
hole until the enclosure is flush against the duct. The airflow direction
is not important. Secure the enclosure to the duct with (2) #10 x 25 mm
(1") self tapping screws (Not provided). Tighten screws until the
enclosure is tight against the duct and that there is no movement of the
enclosure as shown in Figure 3. A foam gasket is provided on the back
of the enclosure that provides a tight seal against any air leaks.
