Outdoor Antenna Grounding — if an outside antenna is connected to the receiv

is grounded so as to provide some protection agair
voltage surges and built up static charges. Section
810 of the National Electric
Code,
ANSI/NFPA
No.
70-1981,
provides
information
with
respect to prop
grounding
of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to
antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-dischar
unit, connection
to grounding
electrodes,
and
requirements
for the groundi
electrode. See Figure 1.
Nonuse Periods — The power cord of the equipment should be unplugged from t
outlet when left unused for a long period of time.
Object and Liquid Entry — Care should
be taken so that objects do not fall ai
liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings.
Damage Requiring Service — The equipment should be serviced by qualified servi
Personnel when:
A. The power-supply
cord or the plug has been damaged ; or
8. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the equipment; or
C. The equipment has been exposed to rain; or
D. The equipment does not appear
to operate
normally
or exhibits
a mark:
change in performance; or
E. The equipment has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged.
Servicing ~ The user should not attempt to service the equipment beyond that a
scribed in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qua
fied service personnel.
