TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
Keep the blades sharp and clean. Refer to Maintaining the
Blades in the Maintenance section.
Keep the blades properly lubricated. Refer to Lubricating the
Blades in the Maintenance section.
To trim new growth, use a wide sweeping motion with a slight
downward tilt of the blade.
To trim old growth with thicker stems, use a sawing motion.
Do not try to cut stems larger than 7/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) in
diameter. Use a non-powered hand saw or pruning saw to trim
large stems.
Use a string to obtain a level hedge. Stretch a string along the
top of the hedge at the desired height and trim the hedge just
above the level of the string (Fig. 9).
To trim the sides of the hedge, sweep the hedge trimmer upward
from the bottom of the hedge to the top. Trim the sides of the
hedge to be slightly narrower at the top.
Clean up after operation. Dispose of debris appropriately.
WARNING:
DO NOT remove cut material, or hold
material to be cut, while the blades are moving. Always
stop the unit before attempting to remove debris or
jammed material. Allow time for moving parts to stop after
turning the unit off. Blades coast for a short time.
