Get started
Always follow the instructions in this chapter in sequence.
Install batteries
- Risk of explosion! Keep the batteries away from heat, sunshine or re. Never discard batteries in re.
- Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly.
- Do not mix battery types: e.g. alkaline with carbon zinc. Only use batteries of the same type for the set.
Insert 2 AAA batteries (not provided) with correct polarity (+/-) as illustrated.
Listen to FM/AM Radio
Note
- Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid radio interference.
- For better reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the FM antenna.
Tune to radio stations
- Turn the control to switch on the set.
- Set the band selector to FM or AM.
- Select your station using the TUNING control.
- To switch o the radio, turn the control to OFF.
Adjust volume
Adjust the sound with the control.
Connecting to headphones
You can connect headphones to the headphone socket.
-> The loudspeakers will then be switched off.

Troubleshooting
- Never remove the casing of the product.
To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the device yourself.
If you encounter problems when using this device, check the following points before requesting service. If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips webpage (www.philips.com/support). When you contact Philips, make sure that the device is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
No sound /power
- Volume not adjusted
- Batteries dead/ incorrectly inserted
- Insert (fresh) batteries correctly
- Headphones connected to the set
Poor radio reception
- Weak radio signal
- For FM, extend, incline and turn the telescopic antenna for best reception. Reduce its length if the signal is too strong.
- For AM, the set uses a built-in antenna. Direct this antenna for best reception by turning the whole set.
- When inserting new batteries, do not try to mix old batteries with the new ones.
- Remove the batteries if the set is not to be used for a long time. Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly.
