When recording FM broadcasts with Dolby NR
Set the MPX FILTER switch to ON (the "FILTER" indicator will
be displayed) when
you record
FM broadcasts
with Dolby NR.
If the switch
is set to ON, the MPX
filter activates to cut off
any remnants of the 19kHz stereo carrier and 38kHz subcarrier
signals, which may otherwise interfere with proper operation of
the Dolby noise reduction.
However, setting this switch to ON is not a must because
almost all high-performance
tuners incorporate such filters
which adequately remove those signal components from the
output.
So, set the switch to ON Only if the tuner is not equipped with
this filter or the equipped filter is insufficient {if you notice
sound degradation when recording with Dolby NR).
Note that the MPX FILTER switch does not function even if
you set it to GN, as long as the DOLBY NR switch is OFF.
