MANUAL
V2.0
ULM/ Microlight Headset:
For your personal safety and to ensure that you get best performance from this equipment please read and obey all instructions before using
this product.
Thank you for buying MicroAvionics products. Used properly you will have many years of safe and fault free use.
The system in fully self-contained, they have rechargeable NiMH batteries in each earcup which supply power the internal electronic circuitry.
Each headset has been specially designed for open cockpit flying and they have a specially designed microphone, separate volume dial and
locking bayonet plugs on curly cables.
DO NOT try to open the earcups there are no customer serviceable parts inside.
User Settings:
The headset has two user settings. There is a small switch inside the left ear cup, just below the speaker. Settings are: Switch
back = Normal, Switch forwards = Noise Filter. When the switch is set to Noise Filter, it is imperative that the mic is almost
touching your lips, otherwise the passenger will hear you at a reduced volume. If the switch is set to Normal, then the mic can
be up to 1cm from your lips. It is not as important where the mic is when set to Normal. However it is always advised that the
mic be less than 1cm from your lips, to maintain the noise cancelling properties of the microphone.
The UL100 system has an internal intercom called side tone this allows the user to hear themselves and others that are plugged into the same
system. The system works with the following configuration.
Setup 1.
One UL100 headset can have side tone to enable this you will need to plug a 'solo switching adapter' into the end of the curly lead from the
headset. This part is needed to switch on the headset. After use the switching adapter should be unplugged otherwise the intercom will be left
switched on and the batteries in the headset will run flat.
Setup 2.
Two Pro 100 headsets can be plugged directly into each other using the accessory 'Linking adapter'. To use the linking adapter you plug one
headset into the linking adapter and the other headset into the remaining socket of the linking adapter. You will now hear side tone and you will
also be able top hear each other.
Step 3.
One, or two, headsets can be plugged directly into a 'Radio Interface'. To do this simply plug one or both headsets into the radio interface.
Doing this will turn side tone on and if a second headset is used you will also hear each other. With the radio interface you can plug an airband
radio into the system, mobile telephone, music, sound record & Aux control used for various purposes.
Note : The volume level should be set low, so you can just hear the other person. Higher volume may damage your hearing. For optimal use the
mic should be placed NO MORE THAN 1 cm from your lips, if the mic is skimming your lips this is optimal.
Headset Charger:
Your headsets will not be fully charged from new. Connect headsets to the charger and lock bayonet connector in place. Leave on charge for 12
– 14 hours. The headsets will need re-charging after approximately 60 – 100 hours of use unless you use a powered interface with external
power connected. If you use a MicroAvionics powered interface then the headset may never need a re-charge as this is done by the interface.
Note.
Lynx Avionics Micro System is fully compatible with MicroAvionics UL100/ UL200 headsets.
