With the welding machine, a welding accessory kit, consisting of welding visor and pick hammer can be purchased. The tinted glass of the welding visor protects the eye from harmful rays (ultraviolet and infrared rays). The clear glass plate protects the dark glass from welding sprays and breakage.
  • Page 9 Notes on welding process Because of the various differences in the important points for welding in the different types of electrodes, we are only talking of the common electrodes for normal structural steels, the rutile cellulose electrode, are introduced here. If you want to weld other electrodes, the electrode manufacturers supply upon request all relevant information for the special electrode to be used.

WIG welding (optional) Due to the same welding characteristics as with electrode welding, WIG welding is possible with Inverter welding device ST 140/60 DC. A WIG torch model SR 17 V is used, which is always connected to the negative (-) pole (5). The arc is ignited by scratching with the tungsten electrode on the workpiece (causing a short-circuit).

The earth cable must be firmly connected to the workpiece, ensuring good conduction. Protect welding cables and the power cable from damage. Replace damaged cables with genuine Elektra Beckum parts. Place torch or electrode holder on insulated pad during short work breaks. For longer work breaks switch off machine. Wear dry and insulating gloves and shoes when welding.
