The ANVIL Brewing Pump XP (XP Pump) will come fully assembled. Prior to the first use, disassemble the pump head by
removing the tri-clamp, head, impeller, and vent valve. Wash the parts in your favorite non-chlorine based cleaner.
We suggest Five Star Chemical's Powdered Brewery Wash (PBW) as a general cleaner for removing soils.
Do not submerge the motor at any time.
Reassemble the pump, as shown in the image to the right, noting that the pump head can be oriented 360 degrees.
Note: Pump input and output ports are 1/2" NPT, the pump power plug is NEMA 5-15 and requires 2.4 amps for operation.

1.
Connect the pump to your system with heavy wall and/or braided hoses and appropriate hose barbs. It is recommended to use ½" ID x .125" wall
silicone tubing. Secure all hoses with clamps. If using NPT pipe fittings, always wrap the threads in Teflon tape to prevent galling of the threads. Galled
threads are not covered under warranty. Prime the pump with liquid before turning it on. When priming the pump, a 3/8" ID hose is recommended to
safely direct priming fluid away form the brewing area. Connect the hose to the barb with a hose clamp.
2.
Ensure to never run the pump dry. Open any valves used for throttling flow.
3.
If liquid doesn't readily flow into your pump, slowly pull the ring on the priming vent valve to allow air to escape from the pump head. When you see
liquid escaping from the vent tube, release the ring and turn on the pump (after it's confirmed that the pump is fully primed).
4.
Adjust pump flow with a control valve connected in the outlet path of the pump.
Vent Barb
After use, disassemble the pump head and soak the parts in PBW. Then, rinse the parts in hot tap water. Allow the parts to air dry and reassemble the
pump for storage.
Warning: Do NOT soak the motor body in any liquid, at any time! To clean spilled wort from the motor, use a gentle spray of warm water and dry with a
soft cloth.
