V. Operating instructions
Before switching on, ensure that the oscilloscope has been correctly installed in accordance with chapter IV. INSTALLA-
TION, and that the precautions outlined have been observed.

trigger coupling, three-position switch:
LF : via a band-pass filter for frequencies from 10 Hz to 10 kHz.
HF : via a high-pass filter for frequencies above 10 kHz.
DC:
direct coupling for triggering on a slowly varying voltage, or for full
bandwidth working.
slope control, two-position switch:
provides for triggering on the positive-going or the negative-going slope
of the signal.
trigger source, three-position switch:
YA : trigger signal derived from channel A
YB : trigger signal derived from channel B
EXT: trigger signal derived from a voltage applied to the TRIGG. BNC socket
continuously adjustable control to select the level at which the time-base
triggers. Incorporates a switch for position AUTO in which the time-base is
free-running in the absence of trigger signals. The level range in position
AUTO is reduced.
time coefficient control of the time-base, 21-way switch.
continuously variable control of the time coefficients. In the CAL-position
the time coefficient is calibrated.
input BNC socket for external triggering signals.
continuously variable control of the time-base stability.
continuously variable control giving horizontal positioning of the display.
push-button control for x5 magnification of time-base.
display mode, 6-way push-button switch:
A
: Vertical deflection is achieved by the signal connected to
channel A input.
CHOPPED
: the display is switched over from one vertical channel to
the other at a fixed frequency.
ALTERNATE _ : the display is switched over from one vertical channel to
the other at the end of every cycle of the time-base
signal.
