You cannot perform some functions such as
Stop, Search, Slow-motion Play, or Repeat
Play.
• Depending on the disc, you may not bc able to
perform some of the operations above. See the
operating manual that came with tile disc.
Messages do not appear on the screen in the
language you want.
• In the Setup Display, select the desired hlnguagc
for the on-screen display in
[OSD]
under
[LANGUAGE SETUP] (page 72).
The language for the sound track cannot be
changed.
• Multilingual tracks are not recorded on the DVD
being played.
• The DVD prohibits changing the language for the
sound track.
The subtitle language cannot be changed.
• Multilingual subtitles arc not recorded on the
DVD being played.
• The DVD prohibits changing the subtitles.
The subtitle cannot be turned off.
• The DVD prohibits turning off subtitles.
The angles cannot be changed.
• MultMinglcs arc not recorded on Ibe DVD being
played (page 47).
• The DVD prohibits changing the angles.
A disc cannot be ejected and "LOCKED"
appears in the front panel display.
• Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony
serx ice facility.
[Data error] appears on the IV screen when
playing a DATA CD or DATA DVD.
• The MP3 audio m,ck/JPEG image file/DivX
video file* you want to play is broken.
• The data ix not MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3 data.
• The JPEG image file format does not conlbrm to
DCF.
• The JPEG image file has the extension ".JPG" or
".JPEG," but is not in JPEG lbrmat.
• The file you want to play has the extension ".AVI"
or ".DIVX" but is not in DivX format, or is in
DivX format but does not conlbrm to a DivX
Certified profiles."

The system does not work normally.
• Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from
the wall outlet (mains), then reconnect after
several minutes.

When the self-diagnosis lunctinn is activated to
prevent the system From malfunctioning, a 5-
character service number (e.g., C 13 50) with a
combination of a letter and 4 digits appears on
the screen and the fronl panel display. In this
case, check the following table.

When displaying the version
number on the screen
When you turn on the s_stetn, the version
number [VER.X.XX] (X is a number) may
appear on the screen. Allhough this is not a
malfunction and li)r Sony service use only,
normal system operation will not be possible.
Turn off the system, and then turn on the system
again to operate.
