Combo port

Characteristics
Combo port is the name for two corresponding ports. A combo port has the following two plug-
in options:
• a fixed RJ45 port
• a pluggable transceiver slot that can be equipped individually
Of these two ports, only one can ever be active. As long as a pluggable transceiver is inserted
and detected, the RJ45 port is disabled.
The port name is the same on both jacks of the combo port, "PxC".
Mode
Only the following mode is available for the combo port:
• auto
The pluggable transceiver port has priority. As soon as a pluggable transceiver is plugged in,
an existing connection at the fixed RJ45 port is terminated. If no pluggable transceiver is
plugged in, a connection can be established via the fixed RJ45 port.

Function extender interface

The right side of the enclosure has an interface for connecting the SCALANCE LPE to a SCALANCE
XCM-300. This interface is closed with a cover in the delivery state. Connecting the SCALANCE
LPE to a SCALANCE XCM-300 via this interface results in the following changes:
• You may only connect the power supply to the SCALANCE XCM-300. Read the information in
section "24 V DC power supply (Page 47)".
• The RJ45 sockets and the SFP slot are disabled and are available as internal ports. Read the
information in section "Function Extender Interface Ports" of the SCALANCE LPE
configuration manual.
• The port LEDs are always off because the RJ45 sockets and the SFP slot are disabled. Read the
information in section "LED display (Page 22)".
• The procedure for starting the Rescue system changes. Read the information in section
"Starting the Rescue system when using the Function Extender Interface (Page 59)".
