SURFACE
If flame shouldgo out during a cooking
operation,turntheburneroff. If a strong
gas odor is detected, open a window
and wait five minutesbefore relighting
the burner.
Be sureall surfacecontrolsareset tothe
OFF position prior to supplyinggas to
the cooktop.
NEVER touch cooktop until it has
cooled. Expect some parts of the
cooktop,especiallyaroundtheburners,
to becomewarm or hot duringcooking.
Use potholdersto protect hands.

IGNITION
Pilotless ignition eliminatesthe need for a
constant standing pilot light, Each surface
burner has a spark ignitor, Use care when
cleaningaroundthe surfaceburner.
If the surfaceburner does not light, check if
ignitoris broken,soiled or wet.

SETTINGTHE CONTROLS
1. Place a pan on the burner grate. (To
preservethe grate finish,do notoperate
the burnerswithouta pan on the grateto
absorbthe heatfrom the burner flame.)
2. Pushin knoband turn immediately coun-
terclockwiseto the LITE setting.
| A clicking(spark)sound will be heard
and the burnerwill light. (All ignitors
will spark when anysurface burner
knobis turned on. However,only
the selectedburner will light.)
3. Turn knobto desiredsetting.
4. Do not leavecooktopunattended.
DURING A POWER
FAILURE
1. Holda lightedmatchto the desiredsur-
face burner head,
2. Pushinandturnthe controlknobslowlyto
the desiredsetting.

sure all of the controls are in the OFF
position. Strikethe matchfirstand hold
it in positionbeforeturningthe knob.

than neededto maintaina gentleboil. Water boilsat the same
temperaturewhether boilinggently or vigorously.
LOW
Use LOW to simmerfoods, keepfoods warm and melt
chocolateor butter,
Somecookingmay take placeon the LOW settingif the pan is
covered. It is possibleto reducethe heatby rotatingthe knob
toward OFF. Be sure flame is stable.
