General operational precautions

1. Keep the workplace clean. Dusty areas invite injury.
2. Consider the surroundings of the work. Do not expose power tools to rain, use
them in damp or wet conditions. Keep the work area well lit. Do not use the
tool in the presence of flammable liquids or gases. Power tools produce
sparks during operation. They also spark when switched on and off. Never use
power tools in hazardous areas where there is paint, petrol, thinner, gases,
adhesive, agents or other materials which can cause a flammable explosion.
3. Protect against electric shock, avoid body contact with grounded surfaces. For
example, pipes, radiators, cookers, refrigerators, casings.
4. Keep children away. Do not allow visitors to come into contact with the tool or
extension cord. All extension cords should be kept away from the work area.
5. Store unused tools when not in use; keep tools in a dry and high place out of
reach of children.
6. Use the right tool. Do not force a small tool or attachment to do the work of a
heavy tool. Do not use tools for purposes for which they are not intended, for
example, do not use the jigsaw for cutting branches or tree trunks.
7. Dress neatly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. They can get caught in
moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-slip footwear are recommended when
working outside. Wear protective hair coverings to keep long hair in check.
8. Use eye protection. Also use a face mask or dust mask if cutting is dusty.
9. Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the unit by the cord or pull it to disconnect
it from the wall socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil and sharp objects.
10. Secure the work. Use clamps or vices to hold the work. It is safer than using
your hand and it frees up both hands to operate the tool.
11. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer
performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and replacing attachments.
Check tool cords regularly for damage and replace if damaged. Keep handles
dry, clean and free of oil and grease.
12. Disconnect the tool when not in use, for maintenance and when changing
accessories such as knives, bits and cutters.
13. Remove the adjusting keys from their holders or check that the keys are
removed from the tool before starting it.
14. Prevent unintentional starting. Do not carry plugged-in tool with finger on
switch. Make sure that the switch is off when you plug in the power cord.
15. Use an extension lead outdoors.
16. Stay alert, watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not use if you
are tired.
17. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the tool, a damaged guard or
other part must be checked carefully to determine whether it will work properly
and fulfil its intended function.
18. Check alignment of moving parts and binding of moving parts. Breakage of
mounting parts and any other condition that may affect operation. A guard or
anything else that is damaged must be repaired or replaced by an authorised
service centre, unless otherwise specified elsewhere in these instructions. Do
not use the unit if the switch does not turn it on and off.
19. Only use the power tool in the places specified in the manual.
20. To avoid personal injury, use only the accessories or attachments
recommended in this manual.
