Adjusting the Tempo (speed)
of the Rhythm Pattern B
The tempo of the selected rhythm pattern can be adjusted in 16 steps.

A tempo of 120 beats per minute is automatically selected when the POWER/MODE switch
is initially turned ON.

Press the TEMPO □ button to increase the tempo or the TEMPO □ button to
decrease the tempo. The tempo is increased or decreased by one step each time the cor-

respoding button is pressed. Press both the | j | | buttons together to restore the
normal "120" tempo setting.

Tap any of the DRUM PAD buttons to play the corresponding drum.
If you play a drum pad while a rhythm pattern is playing, the corresponding drum within
the rhythm pattern will be muted until the beginning of the next measure.
Automatic Accompaniment ei
AUTO ACCOMPAIMENT makes it simple to produce beautifully orchestrated accompani¬
ment using major,- seventh, minor and minor-seventh chords by pressing a minimum
number of keys in the AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT SECTION of the keyboard (to the left
of the

marker). The bass and chord accompaniment produced is perfectly matched to
the selected rhythm pattern.

1. Slide the "Igf switch to the AUTO ACCOMP. position.

2. Select the desired rhythm in the normal way. The closed hi-hat voice will sound to con¬
firm that the rhythm select key has been properly pressed. Although you can also select
the melody (upper keyboard) voice you intend to use in the normal way, the PS$-9/16
automatically determines the voices to be used for the accompaniment bass and chords.
3. Press a Key in the AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT SECTION of the keyboard to start the
accompaniment. If you press a "C" key, for example, a C-major accompaniment will
be played. Press another key in the AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT SECTION to select
a new chord. The key you press will always determine the "root" of the chord played
(i.e. "C" for a C chord).

Tippen Sie eine der DRUM PAD-Tasten an, urn die entsprechende Trommel o. a. zu
spielen.
Wenn Sie eine DRUM PAD-Taste wahrend Schlagzeugbegleitung drucken, setzt das
Schiagzeug bis zum Beginn des nachsten Takts aus, und Sie konnen ein Break trommeln.
Automatische Begleitung a_
Die Begleitautomatik (AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT) liefert Ihnen elegant orchestrierte
BaB/Akkordbegleitungen mit Dur-, Sept, Moll- und Moll-Septakkorden, ohne daB Sie
die Akkorde volt greifen mussen. Sie mussen nur maximal drei Tasten im Bereich
AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT SECTION (links von der ◄ Markierung) driicken und schon
bekommen Sie die perfekte BaS- und Akkordbegleitung im Takt zum gewahlten
Rhythmus.

1. Schieben Sie den [ ]■■" -Schalter in die AUTO ACCOMP.-Position.

2. Wahlen Sie einen Rhythmus wie gehabt. Der ,,Hi-hat''-Ton bestatigt die Wahl. Sie
konnen zwar den Klang fur die Metodie, d. h. fur den rechten Tastaturbereich wah¬
len, die Kiange fur BaB- und Akkordbegleitung werden jedoch vom PSS-9,/16 dem
gewahlten Rhythmus entsprechend festgelegt.
3. Drucken Sie eine Taste im AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT-Bereich, um die Begleitung
auszulosen. Wenn Sie zum Beispiel die C-Taste anschlagen, bekommen Sie BaB fur
C-Dur und C-Dur-Begleitakkorde. Zum Wechseln des Akkords mussen Sie nur eine
andere Taste im AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT-Bereich anschlagen. Die gedruckte
Taste bestimmt jeweils den Grundton des gespielten Akkords (z. B. C fur C-Akkorde).
