Precautions
•
Before connecting
a
hard
disk,
make
sure
that
the
DR4
and
hard
disk are
powered
off.
If
a
hard
disk
is
connected with
its
power on
it
maygo
out of
control.
•
Always power
on
the external
hard
disks 'before the
DR4.
Otherwise,
the
DR4
will
not
recognize them.
•
When
you
connect a hard
disk
that
has already
been used
for recording,
i.e.,
connected
to
another
DR4
or
connected
then disconnected
from
the
same DR4,
format
or erase
all
the
material
on
the disk
before recording
any
new
material.
•
New
unformatted
disks
can
be connected
to the
DR4
quite
safely,
and
will
not
be used
until
formatted.
The
letter
"F"
will
appear
on
the display
when
the
DR4
performs
a
hard disk
search.
The
letter
"F"
will
blink
when
the
DISK
sub-menu
function
is
used.
•
Do
not
set
an
external
hard
disk's
SCSI ID number
to that
used
by
the
internal
hard
disk.
Operation
will
be
unpredictable
and any
recorded
material
may
be
destroyed.

Do
not
power
off
a
hard
disk
while
it
is
accessing
data.
The
left
most
dot
on
the
DR4
display
indicates
that
a hard disk
is
being
accessed.
•
Do
not
move
or
disturb
a hard disk
while
it
is
powered
on, especially
when
it
is
accessing
data.
•
Hard
disks
should
be
mounted
horizontally
or
vertically
when
in use.
