Improve your indoor air quality with your new Germguardian Air Purifier. The HEPA filter captures allergens and includes a charcoal filter layer to help reduce household odors. The IJV-C light helps to reduce airborne germs.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE OPERATING THE AIR PURIFIER

  1. Select a firm, level and flat location for the air purifier.
    • For proper air flow, locate the unit at least I foot from any wall or furniture.
    • Make sure none Of the grills are blocked.
  2. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC outlet.

OPERATING THE AIR PURIFIER

  1. Power Button Operation - Press the power button:
    ONCE to turn the unit on and to put into auto mode. The Auto Mode indicator on the control panel will turn on.
    TWICE to enter speed one. The low fan speed indicator on the control panel will turn on.
    THREE times to enter speed two. The medium fan speed indicator on the control panel will turn on. ".
    FOUR times to enter speed three. The high fan speed indicator on the control panel will turn on.
    FIVE times to enter sleep mode. The air quality monitor on the front of the unit will flash for 10 seconds, all lights will turn off, and the air purifier will run in low fan speed. SIX times to power the unit off.
  2. UV-C - Press the UV-C button to turn on the UV-C light. When the UV-C light is on the button will illuminate. To tum off the UV-C, press the button again.

What is Auto Mode?
When in auto mode the fan speed will change depending on the air quality level in the room.
If the AQM detects higher particle levels, the air purifier will kick into a higher fan speed. After the air quality has improved, it will lower the speed. You can leave the air purifier in auto mode 2417 for best results.
To exit auto mode press the power button again to cycle through the remaining speed levels.

What is Sleep Mode?
In sleep mode the air purifier will run at Speed One with no lights while still filtering the air. To exit sleep mode, press the power button again and the unit will shut off.

AIR QUALITY MONITOR
Air Quality Monitor senses and detects the amount Of particulate matter (PM2.5) in the air. The light on the front of the unit will change colors, indicating the air quality level in the room. See values and status ranges in chart below, Also listed are the color values displayed on the AQM and the fan speed "AUTO" mode will select based on the particulate matter that is detected.

FILTER CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
WHEN TO REPLACE THE FILTER

Depending on usage and environmental conditions the filter will last approximately 6 months. The filter replacement indicator light on the control panel will flash red when it is time to replace the filter. The filter will also turn from white to gray when it is dirty and needs replacing. Replace the filter according to the directions then press the power button and hold for 3 seconds to reset the light.

DO NOT wash and re-use the filter. Please contact Customer Service or visit our website guardiantechnologies.com to purchase a replacement filter.

  1. Turn off and unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the bottom panel by pressing the two corners and pulling up,
  3. Replace With new filter pushing completely into unit.
  4. Return bottom panel and ensure all three corners are locked in place when you hear the dick.

    Make sure filter is installed and bottom panel is closed properly, otherwise unit will not function.
    RESET THE FILTER LIGHT by holding the Power Button control for 3 seconds.

INSTALLING & REMOVING UV.C BULB
The UV-C light will begin to flash continuously when it's time to replace the UV-C bulb. Replace the bulb according to the directions then press the IJV-C control button and hold for 3 seconds to reset the I-JV-C indicator light.

  1. The IJV-C bulb is located in a compartment in the center of the purifier. To access, first follow the instructions to remove the filter.
  2. After removing the filter, hold the unit in place With one hand. Locate the bulb cover and turn in a counter-clock wise direction (left) to remove.
  3. Hold the unit in place with one hand. Turn the bulb in a counter-clockwise direction (left) to loosen from the socket.
  4. Take new bulb and screw into unit using a clockwise motion Wipe off fingerprints with a dry cloth.
  5. Reassemble by reversing steps 1 & 2, Turn the unit back on and hold the IJV-C control button for 3 seconds to reset I-IV-C indicator light.

    The UV-C bulb should be replaced every 10 months depending on use.

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING

  • Always unplug the appliance before you clean it.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
  • Never use aggressive or flammable cleaning agents such as bleach or alcohol to clean any part of the appliance.

BODY OF THE APPLIANCE
Regularly clean the inside and outside of the body to prevent dust from collecting,

  1. Wipe away dust with a soft dry cloth from the body of the appliance.
  2. Clean the air inlet and the air outlet with a soft dry cloth.

PRE-FILTER SCREEN
The pre-filter/charcoal layer collects larger dust and debris and should be cleaned monthly or more frequently depending on use. Remove and clean regularly with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner This will remove the lint and dirt and help maintain the life of the filter. (See filter replacement to locate and clean or remove the filter).

Note: Do NOT stick any foreign objects or your fingers inside the unit.

Do NOT use gasoline, benzene, thinner, harsh cleaners, etc. on and/or in the unit while cleaning as they will damage the products, NEVER use alcohol or other solvents.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

PROBLEM SOLUTION

Unit shuts off unexpectedly or does not operate

Check if the unit is in auto mode. If unit is running quiety on low speed, t may be on auto mode due to good air quality. Press the power button to increase the speeds.
Check that the unit is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
Check to see if the bottom cover is installed correctly,
Unplug/replug into the outlet.
Call customer service.

No air circulating from the unit

Unplug unit. Check filter, Clean or replace filter if necessary.

Odors not removed

Make sure the filter is clean. Replace if necessary.

Discharged air has an odor

Check to see if the filter is heavily soiled. Replace if necessary.

Increase in noise level

Make sure the filter is clean. Replace if necessary.
Intellisense aiTM Air Quality Monitor Light is flashing. Replace filter and reset light.

UV-C indicator light on display is flashing

Replace bulb and reset light,

Air quality status remains poor

Check to see if the filter is heavily soiled. Replace if necessary. Increase the fan speed to circulate air. Using compressed air, blow out the air quality monitor sensor.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physically sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do NOT play with the appliance.
  • Always unplug the air purifier before moving it, opening the grill, changing filters, cleaning or whenever the air purifier is not in use. Be sure to pull by the plug and not the cord.
  • NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings,
  • DO NOT run cord under carpeting,
  • DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings,
  • DO NOT route cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over
  • DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, if motor fan fails to rotate, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
    Call Customer Service for assistance.
  • If the SUPPLY CORD is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Use appliance only for intended household use as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  • DO NOT use outdoors.
  • DO NOT place anything on top of unit.
  • NEVER block the air openings, grills/outlets or place on a soft surface such as a bed or sofa as this could cause the unit to tip over, blocking the air intake or outtake opening.
  • DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this unit Doing so will void your warranty. The inside of the unit contains no user serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only.

  • To reduce the risk offire or electric shock, do not use this purifier with any solid-state speed control device.

  • Skin or eye damage may result from directly viewing the light produced by the lamp in this apparatus, Always disconnect power before replacing lamp or servicing,

  • Always unplug the unit before before cleaning or servicing in any way.

  • Do NOT use gasoline, benzene, thinner, harsh cleaners, etc. on and/or in the unit while cleaning as they will damage the product. NEVER use alcohol or other solvents.

    THIS EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE INSPECTED AND CLEANED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS ON A REGULAR BASIS TO PREVENT EXCESSIVE ACCUMULATION OF DUST PARTICLES THAT CAN RESULT IN FLASHOVER OR A RISK OF FIRE.

The 8 hour TWA Ozone for this product is 0.001 ppmv when tested in a 30 chamber. The product complies with the maximum allowable concentration of ozone of 0.050 parts per million by volume (ppmv) in a 24-hour period. The Health Canada Guideline 2010 recommends that the maximum exposure limit, based on averaging time of 8 hours, is 0.020 ppmv or less when tested in a sealed, controlled room approximately 30 m3.
