Carriage does not move.
Set the player in test mode.
When MANUAL SW is ON, is
the output voltage from pin 23
on IC6 as follows?
Check around pins 23 and 24
on IC6 and R71, 74, and C46
for pattern cracks, solder
bridges, and soldering faults.

Is the output voltage from pin
4 on CN4 as follows?

Check from pin 23 on IC6 via
R38 to pin 3 on IC3, and cir-
cuits around IC3 for pattern
cracks, solder bridges, and sol-
dering faults.
Reconnect CN4
Is there voltage at the poles of
the motor?
YES
Check whether the movement
of the carriage mechanism lags
or catches.
LD does not light
Is CN1 disconnected?
Is it locked?
OK
Is the APCVR (VR1) on the
flexy too low?
Check the connections to CN4
and for open circuits. Check
the connections to the motor.
Insert it securely and lock the
connector.
Readjust the LD power.
Check from pin 5 on IC 1 to pin 24
on!lC
12 for pattern cracks, solder
bridges,
and
soldering
faults.
(Too low)
NO (OK)
Is pin 5 on IC1 HIGH?
YES
Check the voltages at C1
(+5, —12, GND).
Check the surrounding circuits.
Test mode SW ON
Check the connections to the
flexy PCB and LD, and for pat-
tern breaks.
