Index Search
You can locate the desired program and play it back
automatically. You have to designate the number how
many index signals ahead or behind the desired program
is from the present one.
Up to 19 index signals from the present position on the
tape can be located.
How to designate the index number
of the desired program
To Erase Index Signals
1 Insert a cassette with index signals marked.
Press INDEX until the index number of the desired
program is displayed. The INDEX indicator and the
INDEX SEARCH
number light up.

INDEX lights.
To locate a previous program on the tape, press
<<
REW.
To locate a program ahead, press >
FF.
The tape is rewound or rapidly advanced.
Every time an index signal is detected, the INDEX
SEARCH
number decreases. When the number
reaches 0, playback of the desired program begins.
Beginning of the program
Rewind _.% ;"%_. Fast-forward
Present position
You can erase unnecessary index signals.
1 Press INDEX once.
2 Press <4 REW or BP FF.
The tape is rewound or rapidly advanced. Every time
an index signal is detected, the tape is played back
and then rewound or advanced to the next index
signal.
3 Press ERASE within approximately 10 seconds after
you have verified the playback picture.
Notes
eWhile the index signal is being erased, the recorded
sound is not heard but will not be erased.
«Index signals cannot be erased when they are
\
marked just before and after the tape speed is
changed or are marked on a LP mode tape.
