Exercise Extreme Caution when
Working under the Engine Hood
The engine compartment
ol
any motor
ve-
hicle is
a
potentially hazardous
area.
lf
you
are not
lully
lamiliar
with
proper
repair
procedures,
do not
attempt
the
adiust-
ments described
on the
following
pages.
This caution applies to the entire
vehicle.

ln
particular, be
very
carelul
to
ensure
that
items
of clothing
(ties, sleeves
etc,),
iewelry
or
long hair cannot get caught
in
the
fan, V-belts or other moving
parts.

Your Porsche is equipped with
a
transis'
torized ignition
system
wilh
breakerless
distributor.
When
the
ignition is
on,
high
voltage
is
present in
all
wires
connected
with
the
ignition
system; therefore.
exer-
cise
extreme
caution when working
on
any part
ol
the
engine while
the
ignition
is on or
the
engine
is
running.

Always support
your
car with
safety
stands
il
it is
necessary
to
work
under-
neath
the
car. The
iack supplied with
the
car
is
not
adequate
lor this
purpose.

When working undelneath
the
car
without salety stands
but with
the
wheels
on the
ground, make
sure
the
car
is
on
level
groundn
that the
wheels
are blocked, and
that the
engine cannot
be started.
REMOVE
THE
IGNITION KEY.

Do not
smoke
or
allow
an
oPen llame
around the battery or gasoline.

Keep
a
lire
extinguisher in close
reach.

lncomplete

servicing
may
cause
problems

the operation
of
the

Tool Kit and
Car
Jack
The tool kit
and
jack are
stowed
in the
front
luggage
compartment.
The tool kit
contains
tools
needed
for minor roadside
repairs
or

justments.
Regulations
in
some countries
require
addi-
tional tools. Deiails should be obtained
before
leaving
for
a
foreign
country.

there are
no
open flames

area

turn
the
engine off
and
let

cool
down
