ADJUSTMENTS

PINCH ROLLER
PRESSURE
ADJUST-

Press the PLAY key.
Gently
press
tension
gauges
(of about
500g
scale) against the pinch roller arms.
(See Fig.
8-1).
. Check that the amount of pressure required to
push the pinch rollers away from the capstans
lies in the 360 to 440 range on the take-up side,
and in the 90 to 130g range on the supply side.
If the pressure readings do not lie within these
ranges, readjust by re-attaching the pinch roller
pressure springs at suitable positions.
. If the above adjustment procedure fails to satis-
fy the above stated conditions, the pinch roller
pressure springs will have to be replaced.
8.2
TAPE SPEED ADJUSTMENT

Connect
a frequency counter to the OUTPUT
terminals.
Playback the 3kHz section of test tape STD-301.
The
frequency
at the beginning
of the tape
should lie within 2,995Hz and 3,010Hz.
Adjust
the capstan motor adjustment screw (semifixed
resistor) with a screwdriver (See Fig. 8-2) if ne-
cessary.
. Tape speed .is increased by turning the adjust-
ment
screw
in the
clockwise
direction,
and
decreased by turning in the opposite direction.
8.3
TAPE GUIDE ADJUSTMENT
The tape should be free of curling at the head
guide, and any other tape transport abnormality
during PLAY mode.
If curling does occur at the head guide, load a
cassette half equipped with a mirror, and adjust
the height of the tape guide by rotating the
height adjuster nut.
