Ringer Equivalence No. (REN)
The REN ts useful in determining the quantily of devices you may connect to your
lelephone line and slih have all of those devices ring when your telephone number
is called
In most, but not all areas, the sum of the REN's of all devices connecled
to one line should nol exceed five (5 0) To be certain of the number of devices
you may connect lo your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your
local telephone company to determine the maximum AEN for your calling area
In the evenl terminal equipmenl causes harm to the telephone network, the
telephone company should notify the customer, if possible, thal service may be
stopped
However, where prior notice ts tmpractical, lhe company may temporarily cease
service providing thal lhey
(a) Promplly notify the customer
(b) Give the cuslomer an opportunity to correct the problem with their equipment
(c) Inform the customer of the righi io bring a complaint lo the Federal
Communication Commission pursuant lo procedures set oul in FCC Rules and
Regulalions Subpart E of Part 68
The Telephone Company may make changes in ils communicalions faciltlies,
equipment, operalions or procedures, where such aclion is reasonably required tn
the operation of ils business and ts nol inconsistent with the rules and regulations
in FCC Part 68
It such changes can be reasonably expecied lo render any customer terminal
equipment incompalible with telephone company communications facilities, or
require modification or alteration of such terminal equipment, or olherwise
malerially affect ils use or performance, lhe cuslomer shall be given adequale
notice in writing, to allow the cuslomer an opportunity to maintain uninterrupted

When programming emergency numbers and/or making tesi calls to emergency
numbers

before hanging up
2 Perform such activilies in the off-peak hours, such as early morning hours or
late evenings
