  • Page 5 RISIKOÜBERNAHME Die Entwickler des FLARE MOUSTACHE haben alles dafür getan, dass der ordnungsgemäße Gebrauch des Schirms und seiner Komponenten sicher ist. Dennoch birgt die Verwendung der Ausrüstung gewisse Risiken von Verlet- zungen oder Todesfolge für den Benutzer der Ausrüstung oder Dritten.
  • Page 6 Die Materialwahl unserer FLARE Produkte ist auf Langlebigkeit und Sicherheit ausgelegt. Der FLARE MOUSTACHE hat 3 A-, 3 B- und 4 C-Hauptleinen und eine Haupt- bremsleine, die mit dem Tragegurt verbunden sind. Die Bremsleine ist mit einer „Knotenleiter“ an den Bremsgriffen verbunden. Der Trim ab Werk sollte aus- schließlich von FLARE-zertifizierten „Pro-Partnern“...

    3 TRAGEGURTE / FLARE SYSTEM Das „FLARE System“ ist eine Kombination aus Pulleys, um die B- und C-Lei- nen und vereint die Steuergriffe mit dem Beschleuniger in den Bremsgriffen. Dies ermöglicht die volle Kontrolle des FLARE MOUSTACHE, nur mit Deinen Händen.

    FLARE MOUSTACHE zuerst auf einem Trainingsgelände auf und lerne das Steuern auf dem Boden. Lege den FLARE MOUSTACHE so aus, dass die Eintrittskante deutlich gebogen ist. Stelle sicher, dass sich kein Sand oder andere Objekte im Parakite befinden. Achte darauf, dass die Mitte des Parakites der tiefste Punkt ist.
  • Page 11 Konsequenzen! START (vorwärts) Kontrolliere vor dem Start Deinen ausgelegten Parakite. Halte beim Vorwärts- start mit dem FLARE MOUSTACHE, die A-Tragegurte nicht in der Hand. Folge der schwarzen elastischen Verbindung Deiner Bremsgriffe mit dem Tragegurt. Starte bei der Hauptverbindungsschlaufe der Tragegurte.
  • Page 12 So entfaltet sich der FLARE MOUSTACHE gleichmäßig. Wenn der Wind stark genug ist, kannst Du die Bremsgriffe halten, dann loslassen und mit Deinen Hüften ziehen. So entfaltet sich der FLARE MOUSTACHE perfekt. Sollte der Parakite (vorne) überschießen hast Du zwei Möglichkeiten.

LANDUNG Der FLARE MOUSTACHE kann in flachem Gelände beim Landeanflug große Distanzen zurücklegen (flaren). Wir empfehlen mit ausreichender Geschwin- digkeit in der „optimalen Gleitposition“ zum Landeanflug anzusetzen.

    Robustheit schonend und öffne Deinen Parakite bei längerer Lagerung. 6 ABSTIEGSHILFEN Der FLARE MOUSTACHE ist nach EN926-1 zertifiziert. Er hat einen Schock- und Lastentest durchlaufen und bestanden. Der FLARE MOUSTACHE hat keine Motor - DGAC - Direction Generale de I‘Aviacion Civile Zertifizierung.
  • Page 15 Bremsdruck auf der Innenseite während einer Kurve erhöhst und das Gewicht in dieselbe Richtung verlagerst. Ziehe die Bremse auf der Innenseite nicht zu weit, um Deinen FLARE MOUSTACHE nicht in einen Spinn zu bringen oder asymmetrisch zu stallen.

    Erfahrung in extremen Bedingungen haben. ASYMMETRISCHER KLAPPER Der FLARE MOUSTACHE ist sehr stabil, trotzdem kann er bei starken Turbulen- zen jederzeit einklappen. In der „Full Speed Position“ neigt ein Parakite eher zu Klappern, welche gravierende Konsequenzen haben können.
  • Page 17 Regen (Aufnahme von Feuchtigkeit) auftreten. Der Parakite beschleunigt nicht und bekommt eine hohe Sinkgeschwindigkeit. Um mit dem FLARE MOUSTACHE einen Sackflug zu vermeiden, bringe die Bremsen in die „Full Speed Position“. WENN WÄHREND DES SACKFLUGS DIE BREMSEN BETÄTIGT WERDEN, DANN GEHT DER PARAKITE SOFORT IN EINEN FULL- STALL ÜBER.
  • Page 18 PILOTEN KÖNNEN UNABHÄNGIG VOM SCHIRMTYP GEFÄHRLICHE KONSEQUENZEN HABEN! FULLSTALL Einen Fullstall mit dem FLARE MOUSTACHE führst Du aus, indem Du die Bremsen unter die „Minimum Speed Position“ ziehst. Es ist entscheidend, den Fullstall langsam zu initiieren, damit der Schirm nicht zu weit hinter den Piloten fällt.

    Der optimale Aufbewahrungsplatz für Parakites ist ein trockener, dunkler Platz mit konstanter Temperatur. Trockne Deine Ausrüstung vorzugsweise in einem beheizten und gut belüfteten Raum, damit Feuchtigkeit verdunsten kann. Lagere Deine FLARE Produkte niemals bei großer Hitze, naß und im feuchten Zustand. REINIGUNG Jegliche Reibung oder Abrieb verschlechtern schnell den Zustand Deines Parakites.
  • Page 25 Bevor eine Leine ausgetauscht wird, muss die korrekte Länge geprüft werden, indem sie mit der entsprechenden Leine auf der anderen Seite des Schirms ver- glichen wird.     1 INTRODUCTION Welcome to FLARE! Congratulations on the purchase of your new MOUSTACHE and thank you for your trust in us and in our products. In this manual you will find infor- mation that will help you quickly get to know your new parakite to ensure your fun for a long time.
  • Page 32 2 DESCRIPTION The FLARE MOUSTACHE is a very versatile construction built for your ultimate soaring and speedflying experience. It is the first wing giving you complete control on speed and glide ratio with only one input, your brake handles.

  • Page 34 The choice of material for our FLARE products is designed for durability and safety. The FLARE MOUSTACHE has 3 A-, 4 B-, 4 C- main lines and one brake main line connected to the riser.The brake line is connected to a ‘knot-ladder’ on the brake handle.

    3 RISER / FLARE SYSTEM The “FLARE System” is a matrix of pulleys around the B and C lines and com- bines the control handles with the accelerator in the brake handles. This al- lows controlling the FLARE MUSTACHE with just your hands.
  • Page 37 BRAKE SETTINGS ON THE FLARE SYSTEM Best glide position: The FLARE MOUSTACHE has its best glide ratio when you pull your brake handles (not the brake handle loop) to the same height as the L/R flags on the riser. This is your ‘best glide’ position.

    4 HARNESS The FLARE MOUSTACHE can be flown with all certified harnesses of the GH type (harnesses without solid cross-bracing). Be aware that the relative brake travel and the agility of the parakite changes with the height of the attachment point.
  • Page 39 Entangled lines can often not be solved and have fatal consequences! TAKE-OFF (forward) The FLARE MOUSTACHE is easy to launch. It is very important to NOT hold the A-Risers in your hand while performing a forward launch. Follow the black elastic connecting your brake handles with the riser, starting from your main riser connection loop.
  • Page 40 REVERSE LAUNCH Hold the A-Riser where the split to the B-Riser is located. This way the FLARE MOUSTACHE inflates in a nice and smooth way. If the wind is strong enough, only hold your brake handles and release them and pull with your hips.
  • Page 41 We recommend doing the final approach slightly above the ‘best glide’ position; this way, you have enough flare left for a smooth flared landing. In no wind situations, be ready to run fast. The Moustache has a much higher stall speed than a regular paraparakite.

    6 DESCENT TECHNIQUES The FLARE MOUSTACHE is EN926-1 certified. It has gone through and passed a shock and load test. The FLARE MOUSTACHE has no Motor - DGAC - Di- rection Generale de I’Aviacion Civile certification. Check the local regulations to fly with the FLARE MOUSTACHE at high altitudes.
  • Page 43 ‘Full Speed’ position will give you a lot of sink, therefore coming down on a parakite is easier than with regular paragliders. Be aware you can’t do Ears, Big Ears or a B-Stall with the FLARE MOUSTACHE. We recommend flying circles or small wingovers (rolling) to lose altitude more quickly.

  • Page 44: Extreme Flight Maneuvers

    Professional or experienced pilots should only fly the FLARE MOUSTACHE in extreme conditions. ASYMMETRIC COLLAPSE The FLARE MUSTACHE is very stable, but it can collapse at any time in strong turbulence. A parakite tends to collapse in the “full speed position”, which can have serious consequences.
  • Page 45 (absorption of moisture). The parakite does not accelerate and gets a high rate of descent. The FLARE FLARE MOUSTACHE will recover from a parachutal stall by re- leasing the brakes to ‘full speed’ position immediately. IF YOU APPLY THE BRAKES DURING A PARACHUTAL STALL, THE GLIDER WILL IMMEDIATELY ENTER A FULL STALL.
  • Page 46 In case the FLARE MOUSTACHE is far behind the pilot, DO NOT release the brakes immediately, keep them below the ‘minimum speed’ position un- til the wing is above or in front of you.
