Adding memory (optional) HINT: To purchase additional memory modules, see the accessories information packaged with your system or visit accessories.toshiba.com. Your computer comes with enough memory to run most of today’s popular applications. You may want to increase the computer’s memory if you use complex software or process large amounts of data.
Page 30 Adding memory (optional) Installing a memory module Memory modules can be installed in the memory module slots on the base of the computer. You will need a small Phillips screwdriver for this procedure. If the computer has been running recently, the memory module(s) may be hot.
Page 31 Unplug and remove any cables connected to the computer, including the AC adaptor. Place a soft cloth on the work surface to prevent scratching the top cover of the computer, and then place the computer upside down on the cloth. Remove the main battery.
Page 32 Adding memory (optional) Static electricity can damage the memory module. Before you handle the module, touch a grounded metal surface to discharge any static electricity you may have built up. Avoid touching the connector on the memory module or on the computer.

Using the optical drive Optical storage is a popular medium for software, music, and video. Digital versatile discs (DVDs) provide a significant increase in data storage and support features that were not available on previous video platforms. These features include wide-screen movies, multiple language tracks, digital surround sound, multiple camera angles, and interactive menus.

Media control buttons The media control buttons located on the system control panel above the keyboard let you mute the sound and play audio CDs or DVD movies when the computer is on.

If you are working with a program that suddenly freezes all operations, chances are the program has stopped responding. You can exit the failed program without shutting down the operating system or closing other programs.

Make sure you attached the AC adaptor and power cord/cable properly or installed a charged battery. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds.
