DESCRIPTION
The RLN4941AXL Receive-Only Earpiece (Extra Loud
Earphone) with Translucent Tube is a secondary
receiver audio accessory that plugs into the 3.5 mm
audio jack on compatible remote speaker or
microphones (RSMs).
When attached, the earpiece provides a convenient
means of receiving audio in the ear while muting audio
from the remote speaker/microphone speaker.
The RLN4941AXL Receive-Only Earpiece (Extra Loud
Earphone) with Translucent Tube includes a swivel clip
that conveniently clips to a shirt collar or lapel to provide
wearing comfort and prevent pulling the rubber eartip
from the ear.
Four types of in-the-ear options are available:
• Standard Rubber Eartip (supplied with
RLN4941AXL)
• Foam Earplug
• Clear Comfortable Earpiece, right ear
• Clear Comfortable Earpiece, left ear

guide for part numbers to order the in-the-ear options.
OPERATION
Attaching the Earpiece to the RSM
1. Remove the rubber seal from the 3.5 mm audio jack
on the side of the RSM.
2. Insert the earpiece 3.5 mm plug into the microphone
3.5 mm audio jack.
Wearing the Earpiece
To minimize interference and optimize earpiece
performance, place the rubber eartip into the ear until
the fit is snug. To provide a more secure fit (eartip to
ear), loop the curved part of the translucent tube over
the ear such that the coiled part of the tube hangs
behind the ear. Then, attach the swivel clip to shirt collar
or lapel.
Receiving
When the earpiece is connected to the RSM and the
RSM is connected to the radio, audio is heard only from
the earpiece.
Transmitting
Connecting the earpiece to the RSM and the RSM to
the radio does not disable the radio microphone and
push-to-talk (PTT) switch.
Removing the Earpiece from the RSM
Carefully pull the earpiece 3.5 mm plug from the RSM
3.5 mm audio jack. Remember to reattach the RSM
audio jack rubber seal when a secondary accessory is
not being used.
SERVICE
Other than replacing the rubber eartip (or other in-the-
ear options), and the earphone itself, the RLN4941AXL
Receive-Only Earpiece (Extra Loud Earphone) with
Translucent Tube is not repairable.
Order replacement earpiece parts as necessary.
