  • Page 32: Cleanness During Assembly

CHAPTER 6 Cleanness during assembly When working with hydraulic systems three basic rules must be observed. • RULE 1: CLEANNESS when assembling the hydraulic system. • RULE 2: CLEANNESS during every-day operation of the hydraulic system. • RULE 3: CLEANNESS during control and repair works. Rule 1: Cleanness when assembling the hydraulic system.

CHAPTER 6 Another very important point is that work rooms, working places, tools and clothes must always be kept as clean as possible. While working on hydraulic parts smoking is prohibited. This implies not only a certain fire risk, but the tobacco ash may work like an abrasive in the oil. When the system is being filled with oil it is important to use a filter filling system to filter the oil.

Use a measuring instrument with phase sequence display to determine the phase sequence quickly and easily. This measuring instrument can be obtained from PALFINGER MARINE. The control box to start the Y ∆ motor must be designed in accordance with the enclosed circuit diagram so that the motor runs counterclockwise because the field of the three-wire mains rotates clockwise.
  • Page 36 CHAPTER 7 Venting and cooling the electric motor • The electric motor is vented or cooled, if necessary, using a rotor disk installed within the electric motor. • In cranes of the types PKM, PSM and PTM the electric motor is mounted within the mounting base. Warning! Never close or seal air inlets.
