• Taking Pictures with Stroboscopic
Flash
When taking pictures with stroboscopic flash, it is necessary to set a
shutter speed that will keep the shutter open long enough for all of the
flash bursts to be completed.
1
Set the camera to manual
exposure mode
(M)
and set
the desired aperture value.
2
Set the shutter speed calculat¬
ed from the following formula:
Shutter speed =
_ No. of bursts + Firing frequency
For example, if the number of
bursts is set to 10 and the fir¬
ing frequency is set to 5 (Hz),
10
5 = 2, so the shutter
speed should be set to a
speed of 2 seconds or longer.
To make sure all of the flash
bursts are properly recorded, it
is a good idea to set a shutter
speed that is slightly longer
than the calculated speed. In
this case, for example, a shut¬
ter speed of 4 seconds would
be appropriate.
• If the number of bursts is set to
--
(unlimited), the flash will
continuously fire until the shut¬
ter closes or until the flash
charge is depleted. However,
the maximum number of contin¬
uous flash bursts is limited to
the number shown in the chart
on page 21.
3
Focus the subject.
• To determine the flash expo¬
sure, follow the manual flash
procedure on page 18.
