Section 1 • INTRODUCTION
NOTE: This manual covers SNAPPER Model 1422,1522,1524,1722and 1724Snow Throwers. The first number in the
model designation indicates the horsepower of the engine, the next two numbers indicate the width in inches
of the collector housing and the last number Indicates design series. The "i", or first letter, indicates frame size
of these modeis. The manuai inciudes the recommended operating instructions and the routine service and
adjustment procedures. Comprehensive overhaul/repair manuai and parts manuais for these modeis are
avaiiabie from your SNAPPER Deaier at nominai cost. Refer to the Engine Owners Manuai for specific detaiis
invoiving operation and service of the engine. Make sure that each person authorized to operate this Snow
Thrower reads this manuai prior to operation and pays particuiar attention to the iMPORTANT SAFETY
PRECAUTiONS on page 2 and to aii warning & caution decais on the machine. Aiso, make sure aii operators
become thoroughiy famiiiar with the controis and understand how they function. Refer to the iiiustration beiow
for the iocation of the controis and other points of interest.
