SA4-LP Speaker Driver Instructions
The SA4-LP is a 4 channel speaker driver designed to connect to the audio outputs of DVRs and
remote monitoring equipment, etc. Note- the audio inputs of the SA4-LP are "line level" (0db).
Speaker Placements
Locate the speakers as close as possible to the areas of interest in the spaces to be monitored.
Do not mount the speakers near air conditioning vents, light fixtures or electrical equipment. The
speakers should be placed at least 5 feet away from the subject(s) to be addressed. A speaker is
still usable at distances of up to 25 feet but is dependent on the level of background noise in the
area. Experimentation in the environment will determine what distances work best.
SA4-LP location and power
The SA4-LP interface box is designed to be located next to a DVR or other equipment. The SA4-
LP requires a 120VAC power source within 3 feet of its location. If this is not possible in your
application, you can splice in up to 100 feet of 18 awg, 2 conductor cable to extend the distance
between the AC power source and the SA4-LP.
Cable Run
Run up to 4 each 22 gauge, stranded, two conductor shielded cable between the SA4-LP
amplifier and the speakers. Keep the cable run distances under 1,000 feet (70v mode) / 250 feet (
8 Ohm mode) and away from AC power sources, light fixtures and electrical equipment. See
Figure 1 for connection diagram.
SA4-LP level controls
The speaker levels can be adjusted to higher or lower volumes. Experiment with the level
controls to achieve the desired volumes.
70V / 8 Ohm direct switch
If you want to use 8 Ohm speakers, place these switches in the 8 Ohm positions and limit your
speaker cable runs to 250 feet. If your are using a 70V speakers, place the switches in the 70v
positions and pick the wattage taps closest to 2 Watts or use ETS Sound Surveillance speakers.
SA4-LP audio inputs.
This input is line level (0db). Connect these to the audio outputs of your DVR, etc. If the audio
outputs are screw terminals, cut the ends off the supplied patch cables and strip back the wires.
Connect the center conductors to "+" terminals and the shields to the "-" terminals.
