Problem
Full range of shutter
speeds not available.
Focus does not lock when
shutter-release button is
pressed halfway.
Image size can not be
changed.
Can not select focus point
Camera is slow to record
photos.
Photos not recorded in
live view mode.
Solution
Flash in use. Flash sync speed can
be selected using Custom Setting
e1 ([Flash sync speed]); when using
optional SB-900, SB-800, SB-600, or
SB-R200 Speedlight, choose [1/250
s (Auto FP)] for full range of shutter
speeds.
Camera is in focus mode C: use AE-L/
AF-L button to lock focus.
[Image quality] set to [NEF (RAW)].
• Unlock focus selector lock.
• Auto-area AF selected for focus
mode: choose another mode.
• The camera is in playback mode.
• The camera is in menu operation.
• Press shutter-release button
halfway to turn monitor off or
activate exposure meters.
Turn long exposure noise reduction
off.
• Sound of mirror clicking down
when shutter-release button was
pressed halfway in hand-held
mode was mistaken for sound of
shutter.
• Unless [Release] is chosen for
Custom Setting a2 ([AF-S priority
selection]), shutter release is
disabled if camera is unable to
focus when focus mode S is
selected in hand-held mode.
