USING YOUR COFFEE GRINDER


BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
Remove all packaging materials and clean Hopper and Coffee Grounds Container with non-abrasive soap. Wipe exterior with damp cloth. Thoroughly dry and replace parts.


The digital scale is a precision device, avoid applying extreme pressure.

Note: The internal scale must be level in order to provide an accurate reading.

Steps

  1. Place the unit on a flat surface.
  2. Pour coffee beans into the Hopper and secure the Hopper Lid. Do not overfill the Hopper.
    Note:
    The maximum capacity of the Hopper is 400g.
    The maximum capacity of the Coffee Grounds Container is 130g
  3. Choose the desired coarseness setting by twisting the Grind Size Dial.
  4. Ensure the Scale Tray is on the Scale.
  5. Place the Coffee Grounds Container on the Scale Tray.
  6. Plug in the unit. The display will enter default mode and show "1 Cup".
  7. Press the Tare button.
  8. Use the Menu button to select the desired mode: Cup, Ounce, Gram, or Manual. The default amount of the corresponding mode will be displayed.
  • Cup Mode
    Choose the desired cup quantity up to 12 cups. (1 cup is 7 grams)
  • Ounce Mode
    Choose any amount ranging from 0.10-3.50 ounces in 0.05-ounce increments.
  • Gram Mode
    Choose any amount ranging from 3-100 grams in 1-gram increments.
  1. Use the Plus and Minus buttons to adjust desired amount.
    Note: Press and hold down Plus and Minus buttons to quickly change amount.
  2. Press the Start/Pause button to begin grinding. The display will show the amount as the beans are being ground. Once the desired amount has been reached, grinding will stop and the unit will beep.
  • Manual Mode
    Press the Start/Pause button to begin grinding, press again to stop. The device will grind up to 60 seconds and the time will be shown on the display.
    Note: If the unit is idle for more than 2 minutes, the display will enter sleep mode. Press any button and the display will revert to previous mode.

TARE FUNCTION

  • To ensure the scale's accuracy, tare device before each use by pressing the Tare button. The display will show a 0 moving clockwise. Once complete, the display will revert to previous mode.
  • If grinding completes but more grounds are desired, press the Tare button and fill with more beans. The unit will begin measuring from zero.
  • The Tare Warning will show when the weight on the scale is above or below what it was originally tared to. The Grounds Container needs to be replaced on the Scale Tray or emptied to return weight to tared amount.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Error Message Solution
E01 The Hopper hasn't been installed or isn't installed properly. Ensure the Hopper is securely attached.
b0 The Hopper may be empty. If so, add beans to the Hopper.
The Hopper may be blocked. Unplug the unit, remove Hopper and clear blockage.
b0 The weight on the scale is above or below what it was originally tared to. The Grounds
Container needs to be replaced on the Scale Tray or emptied to return weight to tared amount.

If the unit is not displaying any of the above error messages and still not working, ensure the grinder is clean. See Cleaning and Maintenance.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  • Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
  • Always clean the unit immediately after each use. Do not use abrasive detergent or scouring pads to clean the unit.
    Note: Do not oil or sharpen the burrs.
  • Wash the Coffee Grounds Container and Container Lid with soap and dry thoroughly.
  • Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth.

CLEANING THE HOPPER

Ensure the unit is unplugged from the electrical outlet before removing and replacing the Hopper.

To remove the Hopper, press down on the Hopper Release button. Wash the Hopper with soap and dry thoroughly.

To attach the Hopper, align the Unlock Icon with the white line, press down on the Hopper and turn clockwise until it locks into place and the Lock Icon is aligned with the white line.

CLEANING THE UPPER BURR

Ensure the unit is unplugged from the electrical outlet before removing and replacing the Upper Burr.

To remove the Upper Burr, use the Metal Arm to turn the burr counterclockwise and lift. Use the included brush to gently clean.
CLEANING THE UPPER BURR

Replace the Upper Burr and twist clockwise until it locks into place. Unit will not operate if Burr is not properly in place.


Do not immerse the Upper Burr in water or other liquids.

STORAGE

  • Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
  • Make sure all parts are clean and dry.
  • Store in a clean and dry place.

ENVIRONMENT

Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.

This Limited Warranty is for one full year from the date of purchase. It is applicable to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to a third party user. Repair or replacement of defective parts is solely at the seller's discretion. In the event that repair isn't possible, the seller will replace the product/part. If product repair/ replacement won't suffice, the seller has the option of refunding the cash value of the product or component returned.

Product defects not covered under the Warranty provisions include normal wear and damage incurred from use or accidental negligence, misuse of instruction specifications or repair by unauthorized parties. The manufacturing company is not liable for any incidental or consequential damages incurred by such circumstances.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electric appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. To avoid the risk of electric shock, always make sure the unit is unplugged from the electrical outlet before relocating, servicing, or cleaning it.
  3. This unit is intended for grinding coffee beans to brew coffee for human consumption.
  4. Do not use the unit for any other purpose.
  5. Keep the unit out of the reach of children and pets. This unit is not intended for use by children. Close adult supervision is necessary when this unit is used near children.
  6. Do not leave the unit unattended while in use. Always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet when not in use.
  7. Always place the unit on a flat, level, stable surface.
  8. Keep the power cord and unit away from heated surfaces.
  9. Do not place this unit in or expose it to water or other liquids.
  10. Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by Gourmia to avoid risk of fire, electric shock, or serious personal injury.
  11. Unplug the unit from the electrical outlet before putting on or removing parts.
  12. Do not use the unit unless it is completely assembled, and the Hopper Lid is securely in place.
  13. Check the Hopper for the presence of foreign objects before using.
  14. Avoid contact with moving parts.
  15. Before removing the Hopper Lid, unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and make sure the grinding burrs have completely stopped.
  16. To avoid the risk of serious personal injury or damage to the unit, keep hands, hair, other body parts, clothing, and utensils away from the grinding burrs while operating the unit.
  17. Do not plug in or operate the unit with wet hands.
  18. Do not allow the power cord to hang over the edge of a table or counter or anywhere else where it can be tripped over or pulled.
  19. This appliance is not intended for use by children or by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge. Close supervisionis necessary when any appliance is used near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  20. Never operate this unit if it has a damaged power cord or plug, if it is not working properly, has been dropped, damaged, or if the motor has been exposed to water or other liquids. Only qualified service personnel should perform any servicing. Return the unit to a Gourmia approved service center for repair.
  21. Turn the appliance OFF, then unplug from the outlet when not in use, and before assembling or disassembling parts and before cleaning. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
  22. This unit is intended for indoor, non-commercial, household use only. Do not use outdoors.

CORD SAFETY

  • A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If an extension cord is used:
    1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least equal to the electrical rating of the appliance; and
    2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

ELECTRICAL POLARIZED PLUG

This unit has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, the plug is intended to be used by inserting it into the electrical outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit securely into the outlet, reverse the plug and re-insert. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician for assistance. Do not modify the plug in any way.
