Be sure to read the manual carefully before using this product. Keep this manual nearby as a handy reference and refer to the "CAUTION" and "WARNING"
statements whenever necessary. This product is a
optical disk drive having the SATA interface for NEC NX7700x server.
Precautions for Use
The following explains the information required to safely and correctly use this product.
Safety Indications
This product contains components with possible danger, hazards. Server components with possible danger are indicated with a warning label
placed on or around them as well as described in this User's Guide.
In the User's Guide or warning labels, "WARNING" or "CAUTION" is used to indicate a degree of danger. These terms are defined as follows:
WARNING
Indicates the presence of a hazard that may result in death or serious personal injury.
CAUTION
Indicates the presence of a hazard that may cause minor personal injury, including burns, or property damage.
Precautions and notices against hazards are presented using one of the three symbols below. The symbols are defined as follows:
Attention
This symbol indicates the presence of a hazard. An image in the symbol illustrates the

Prohibited

Attentions
Indicates that improper use may cause an electric shock.
Indicates a general notice or warning that cannot be
specifically identified.
Prohibited Actions
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify this product.
Otherwise, an electric shock or fire may be caused.
Do not touch the specified component. Otherwise, you
may receive an electric shock or burn.
Mandatory Actions
Unplug the power cord of the server. Otherwise, an
electric shock or fire may be caused.

General Cautions
Do not use this product for services where critical high availabilitymay directly affect human lives.
This product is not intended to be used with or control facilities or devices concerning human lives, including
medical devices, nuclear facilities and devices, aeronautics and space devices, transportation facilities and
devices; and facilities and devices requiring high reliability. NEC assumes no liability for any accident resulting in
personal injury, death, or property damage if the server has been used in the above conditions.
Do not use this product if any smoke, odor, or noise is present.
If smoke, odor, or noise is present, immediately turn off the server and disconnect the power plug from the outlet,
then contact your service representative. Using the server in such conditions may cause a fire.
Do not look into the optical disk drive.
A laser beam used in the optical disk drive is harmful to the eyes. Do not look into or insert a mirror into the drive
while the drive is powered. If a laser beam is caught in your eyes, you may lose your eyesight (the laser beam is
invisible).
