  • Page 9 HOW TO SET UP YOUR-TRACTOR CHECK BATTERY • Lift seat pan battery box door. • If this battery is put into service after month and year indicated on label (label located between terminals) charge bat- tery for minimum of one hour. at 6-10 amps.
  • Page 10 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tractor were overinflated at the factoryfor shipping purposes. Correct tire pressure is importantfor best cutting performance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" page 5 of this manual. CHECK DECK LEVELNESS For best cutting results, mower housing should be properly leveled.

  • Page 13 The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glass- es or eye shields while operating your tractor or perfor_m._g.an_just- ments or repairs. We recommend spectacles, or standard safety glasses.
  • Page 14 • For best cutting performance, grass over 6 inches in height should be mowed twice. Make the first cut rela- tively high; the second to desired height. TO OPERATE MOWER Your tractor is f_,quipped with an operator presence sensing switch. Any attempt by the operator to leave the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine.

  • Page 18 TRACTOR Always observe safety rules when per- forming any maintenance. • BRAKE OPERATION If tractor requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at high speed in highest gear, then brake must be adjusted. (See =TO ADJUST BRAKE" in the Service and Adjustments section of this manual).
  • Page 19 However,periodic charging of the battery with an automotivecharger will extend life. • Keep battery and terminals clean. • Keep battery bolts tight. • Keep small vent holes open. • Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour.   • Page 21 ACAUTION: Before performing any service or adjustments: • Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and set parking brake. • Place gearshift lever in neutral (N) position. • Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" Tum ignition key "OFF" and remove key. Make sure the blades and all movingparts have completely Stopped. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug.
  • Page 22 TO LEVEL MOWERHOUSING Adjust the mowerwhile tractor is parked on level ground or driveway. Make sure tires are properly inflated (See "PROD- UCT SPECIFICATIONS"). Mandrel Pulley TO ADJUST BRAKE Your tractor is equipped with an adjustable brake system which is mounted on the rightside of the transaxle. If tractor requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at high speed in high- est gear, then brake must be adjusted.
  • Page 24 TO ADJUST STEERINGWHEEL ALIGN- MENT If steering wheel crossbarsare not hori- zontal (left to right) when wheels are posi- tioned straight forward, remove steering wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly section of this manual. FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER The front wheel toe-in and camber are not adjustable on your tractor.

  • Page 26 TO ADJUST CARBURETOR NOTE:The carburetor on this engine is low emission. It is equipped with an idle fuel adjustingneedlewith a limiter cap, which allows some adjustmentwithin the limits allowed by the cap. Do not attempt to remove the limiter cap. The limiter cap cannot he removed without breaking the adjusting needle.
