► Check the blade,
► Attach the handlebar,
► Add engine oil,

► Fold up the handlebar,
► Refuel the lawn mower,
► If mowing and the mown grass is to be collec‐
ted in the grass catcher box: attach the grass
catcher box, 6.2.2.
► If mowing and the mown grass is to be ejected
to the rear: detach the grass catcher box,
6.2.3.
► Set the cutting height,
► Check the controls,
► If the steps cannot be performed: do not use
the lawn mower and consult a STIHL special‐
ist dealer.
6 Assembling the Lawn
Mower
6.1 Attaching the Handlebar
► Stop the engine.
► Place the lawn mower on a level surface.
► Fit sleeves (1) onto retainers (2).
► Insert bolt (3) through cable guide (4).
► Press cable (5) into cable guide (4).
► Hold handlebar (6) against retainers (2) so the
bores align.
► Push bolts (3) through the bores from the
inside to the outside.
► Fit quick-clamping devices (7) onto bolts (3)
and screw in.
► Close quick-clamping devices (7) in the direc‐
tion of the handlebar.

Handlebar (6) is firmly attached to retainers (2)
and quick-clamping devices (7) lie flat against
handlebar (6).
► Press cable (8) into the holder on handle (9).
► Detach the spark plug socket.
► Press control bar for mowing (10) to handle‐
bar (6) and hold.
► Slowly pull starter handle (11) in the direction
of starter rope guide (12).
► Hook starter handle (11) into starter rope
guide (12).
► Release control bar for mowing (10).
► Re-attach the spark plug socket.
Handlebar (6) must not be dismantled again.
6.2 Assembling, Attaching and
Detaching the Grass Catcher
Box
6.2.1 Assembling the Grass Catcher Box
► Fit upper part of grass catcher box (1) onto
lower part of grass catcher box (2).
Openings (3 and 4) must align.
► Press pins (5) through openings (3 and 4)
from the inside.
