Safety Instructions

ALCI Safety Device
This airstyler is provided with an appliance leakage circuit interrupter (ALCI) safety device built into the plug. This device is designed to make the unit inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as accidental immersion in water. The ALCI safety device is equipped with a test button so that its operation can be checked. This unit should be tested before each use to confirm that the safety device is operational.

To test:
After plugging in your airstyler:

  1. Press the reset button on the ALCI device.
  2. Press the test button. The reset button will pop out. This verifies that the safety device is operating properly.
  3. Press the reset button to reactivate your ALCI safety device.
  4. Your airstyler is now ready for use.

Note: This unit may automatically trip when unplugged. If so, the unit must be reset after it is plugged in. If the dryer doesn't reset after following the above testing procedure, call 800-736-4648.

  1. Should the ALCI safety device trip (i.e., reset button pops out) during use, press the reset button. Should the airstyler fail to reset, call 800-736-4648. Never operate this appliance if it has been dropped in water.
  2. The airstyler is designed to work on ordinary household current only, 125 volts A.C., 60 Hz. It is not intended for commercial use.
  3. This appliance is equipped with an automatic thermal limiter, which will cycle off when overheated and come back on when cooled down. If the unit cycles off, unplug the cord for several minutes before restarting.

  2. Use a hairdryer on a low heat/speed setting to remove all excess moisture and thoroughly dry roots. Hair must be 95% dry or completely dry before styling.
  3. A variety of styles can be achieved using Big Styles Air Styler. The amount of volume and curl can depend on:
    • Hair length and type
    • The amount of hair wrapped around the rollers
    • The length of time given to 'set' the curl
    • The heat setting used, i.e. low or high
    • The use of volumizing mouse or spray.

Usage Tips

The Big Style Air Syler creates loose waves and volume.
NOTE: To make styling easier, part your hair and use clips to section your hair – top, sides and back.

HOW TO USE THE SELF GRIP ROLLERS
The Remington self grip rollers, combined with a gentle heated airflow, provide a fast and effective way to create body and volume on nearly dry or completely dry hair. They have been designed to gently grip the hair so that the rollers remain secure to the scalp without the need for pins or clips.

  1. Ensure the hair is combed through and tangle free before styling
  2. Secure the roller adaptor onto the power handle.
  3. Select the roller you wish to use and secure it over the roller adaptor. Plug in and switch on to setting 1. The warm air will begin to flow and the roller will begin to warm. (Alternatively, if you prefer, do not switch on the unit until the roller has been wound to the scalp.
  4. Start at the crown, and use the sectioning finger to separate the hair into neat sections. The larger the section, the softer the style. The smaller the section, the firmer the result.
  1. Smooth the roller upwards along the hairshaft until you reach the ends, making sure the ends are neatly turned around the roller. Carefully wind the roller down the hairshaft to the scalp using your fingers to keep the hair in place and the section taut.
  2. When the roller has been wound to the scalp, switch to setting 2. Heat for the optimum time, approximately 15-20 seconds. To release the roller, depress the release clip and slide the adaptor out of the roller, leaving the roller firmly secured in the hair. Repeat this process until the whole head is complete. If however, on longer, heavier hair, the rollers do not feel secure, use a salon-style lightweight pin to hold the roller in place.
  3. For extra hold, spray the whole head with hairspray or fixing spray and leave to 'set' or until completely cool (approximately 5-10 minutes).
  4. To remove the rollers, begin at the nape of the neck working up to the crown and to the front of the head. Put a finger in each end of the roller and holding the end caps gently unwind the hair keeping the section smooth and curl in shape.
  5. To style, use your fingers and lift and separate the hair to give a full tousled effect. Alternatively, tip your head upside down and 'rake' through the hair with your fingers. Tip your head up and style into shape. For a straight style with height and volume on the crown, backcomb a little at the roots and use a brush to smooth into the desired style.

Maintenance

Cleaning
Make sure the unit is unplugged and cool. Use a damp cloth to clean the plates and the outside of the power handle. No other maintenance of the unit is required.
This appliance has no user serviceable parts.

Storage
Unplug the unit whenever it is not in use. Allow it to cool, then store it out of reach of children in a safe, dry location.
