4. OPERATION
4.1.
PREPARE WHEEL BEARING FOR REMOVAL
4.1.1.
Remove the motorcycle wheel, using the method described in the motorcycle manufacturer's service instructions, or a proprietary
manual.
4.1.2. .
If fitted, remove the retaining circlip. A range of circlip pliers suitable for this task are available from your Sealey stockist.
4.1.3.
Remove the hub bearing seal. It is always advisable to replace the seal with a new item after it has been removed.

4.2.
INSERT COLLET (fig.1)
4.2.1.
Select the correct sized (closest fitting) collet and insert it into centre of the wheel bearing.
4.2.2.
With the collet inserted, place the wheel, with the collet lowermost on a firm, solid surface.
4.2.3.
The allocated slot in the collet should be visible through the hub.
4.3.
INSERT DRIFT INTO COLLET (fig.2)
4.3.1.
Locate the tapered end of the corresponding sized drift into the allocated slot in the collet.
4.3.2.
Using a suitable hammer, strike the drift firmly into the allocated slot in the collet. This will expand the collet, binding it to the inner race of
the wheel bearing.
4.4.
REMOVE WHEEL BEARING (fig.3)
4.4.1.
Support the wheel and hub, leaving sufficient clearance so that the collet and wheel bearing can be driven out of the hub. Ensure that
the hub and wheel are supported sufficiently, so that no damage will be inflicted to the brake discs, hub or wheel rim as a result of
removing the wheel bearing.
4.4.2.
Using a suitable hammer, strike the drift to remove the wheel bearing and collet from the hub.
4.4.3.
Once the wheel bearing and collet have been extracted, remove by passing the drift through the hub.
4.4.4.
Grip the drift in a vice and detach the wheel bearing and collet carefully using a hammer.
4.4.5.
Remove the collet from the wheel bearing and return all items from the wheel bearing removal kit to the case.
