    User’s Chapter 3:BIOS 3.1 Main Menu This Main Menu can display all the major option’s setting and the users are allowed to set any option as he prefers.Take the setting of “Standard CMOS Features” for example. The setting steps are: (1)Shift to the item you want.

    User’s Standard CMOS Setup Set the time and date. Configure disk drives. Advanced CMOS Setup Configure basic system performance parameters. Advanced Chipset Setup Configure features specific to the chipset used in the computer. Power Management Setup Configure power conservation features. PCI / Plug and Play Setup Configure PCI and Plug-and –Play features.

    Save Settings and Exit If the users want to save the items, which they change, please type Yes and then save it. Then, the system will resume again. Exit Without Saving Without change the original setting, the user has to type Yes. Then, the system will resume again.

    User’s 3.2 Standard CMOS Setup Date (mm/dd/yyyy) The current values for each category are displayed. Enter new values through PgDn or PgUp. Ex: To change the Nov to Dec, it only uses PgDn and then it will set to Dec. Also, it uses the same method as the Date and Year.

    User’s 3.3 Advanced CMOS Setup Quick Boot Set this option to Enabled to instruct AMIBIOS to boot quickly when the computer is powered on.     3rd Boot Device The option sets the type of device for the third boot drives that the AMIBIOS attempts to boot from after AMIBIOS POST completes. The available options are CDROM>>SCSI> NETWORK>USB FDD>Disabled. Try Other Boot Devices Set this option to Yes to instruct AMIBIOS to attempt to boot from any other drive in the system if it cannot find a boot drive among the drives specified in the 1st Boot Device ,2nd Boot Device, 3rd Boot Device, 4th Boot Device.

    User’s 3.6 PCI / Plug and Play Setup Plug and Play Aware O/S Set this option to Yes to inform AMIBIOS that the operating system can handle plug and play devices. The settings are No or Yes. The default setting is No. Clear NVRAM The options are No(Default), or Yes.

    3.7 Peripheral Setup OnBoard IDE The option specifies the IDE channel used by the onboard IDE controller. The settings are Disabled, Primary, Secondary, or Both. The default setting is Both. OnBoard FDC Set this option to Enabled to enable the floppy drive controller on the motherboard.

    User’s 3.11 Auto Configuration with Optimal Settings Optimal settings provide you with the best settings for your performance. It loads the default settings at power on. In this part, the default settings is N(No). This option can be set to N or Y. If N is selected, the processing performance as usual.

    User’s 3.12 Auto Configuration with Fail Safe Setting Setting Fail-Safe settings means if you cannot boot the com- puter successfully, select the Fail-Safe option. The options are “N” or “Y”. N means you do not want to load the fail safe settings. Whereas, Y means the opposite.
