Vehicle Description

Secondary Contacts (Figure 5)

The 18 point secondary contact block is mounted on a
sliding plate on the inside of the left hand chassis side
plate. The sliding plate is operated by a round rod with an
"L" handle, extending from the L.H. lower corner of front
panel. When the circuit breaker is in the TEST position, the
secondary contact block is normally disconnected and in
the forward position against the rear of the chassis.
REMOVING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FROM THE COMPART-
MENT
The circuit breaker may open and its closing spring may
discharge as it is withdrawn from the cubicle. It depends
on whether the circuit breaker was left closed or open, or
whether the spring was left charged or discharged.
To remove the circuit breaker from the metalclad compart-
ment:
1.
From the CONNECT position:
A.
Lift the positioning handle to the RACKING POSI-
TION and, while holding the handle in this position,
insert the racking crank all the way in.
CAUTION: If the circuit breaker is closed, it will
open.
B.
Turn the racking crank counterclockwise to move
circuit breaker out of the CONNECT position.
C.
Continue cranking until the circuit breaker reaches
the TEST position and the racking crank can no
longer be turned.
NOTE: The shutter will automatically close, isolat-
ing the primary terminals, as soon as the primary
disconnect contacts are clear.
D.
Remove the racking crank.
E.
Ensure that the positioning handle on the lower
front panel has returned to the OPERATING POSI-
TION.
2.
From the TEST position:
A.
Lift and hold the positioning handle on the lower
front panel in the COMPARTMENT ENTRY or WITH-
DRAWAL POSITION.
CAUTION: The circuit breaker will open and the
closing spring will discharge when the positioning
handle is lifted to the COMPARTMENT ENTRY or
WITHDRAWAL POSITION.
B.
Roll the circuit breaker out of the compartment
by using the handles on the steel front barrier.

Control Cable Box

The type PSR circuit breaker employs a plug-in cable which
completes circuit breaker electrical connections between
the mechanism housing and the vehicle's secondary discon-
nects.

Insulating Barriers

Insulating barriers are required for use on type PSR circuit
breakers.
Interphase and exterior barriers are removed or inserted
vertically and are bolted to vehicle assembly.
