NOTE FOR ADULTS
Before giving the product to children, first remove all plastic, wires and any other object designed to fasten it during transport.
This product comes factory-prepared for the "TRY ME" function. The batteries that it includes are designed for this use. Therefore, it is possible that they may be spent. If this is the case, we recommend they should be replaced.
The product is distributed in its original packaging and for demonstration purposes in stores with the selector switch in the (A) TRY-ME position (see fig. 1).
The product has limited functionality in this position and will not respond to any voice commands. Turn the switch to the ON position for normal operation.
Replacement and installation
This product requires four LR6 (AA) 1.5V alkaline batteries (included). Firstly, open the velcro closure and set the switch to the OFF position (see fig. 1). Remove the safety screw from the battery compartment cover (see Fig. 2).
Remove the dead batteries. Notice the correct placement of the batteries in the image (see fig. 2) and place them according to the position and polarity indicated. Replace the lid and the safety screw (for your children's safety) and finally close the velcro closure.
Replacing or handling the battery should always be done under the supervision of an adult.
Interacting with Emma is very easy. Her vocabulary depends on the learning level and she responds to words and interacts according to the level she is at and the number of times those words are repeated. There are 3 knowledge and learning levels and you can read about them in the quick guide (card) called "How to play with Emma", also included with the product for your guidance and reference.
At the first level her knowledge and vocabulary are very basic, consisting of vowels and simple words:
Emma repeats these words: / Goo goo / Baba /. When she has heard and repeated these words more than 5 times, Emma moves on to the second level, and to confirm it she says: Yay! I learn fast!
Second level. Emma increases her vocabulary, with more words and more difficult ones, reflecting what she has learned: / Yes / No / Hello / Yum, Yum / Why?/ Bye bye /.
Emma's learning level will move on to the third level when she interacts with and responds to at least 10 to 12 words from these two learning levels. Emma indicates this by saying: Great! I talk like a grown up!
At the third level Emma speaks and responds to many more words and phrases: / Stars / Big girl / Hold hands / Night-night / Dummy / Nice kitty / I love you /.
Emma will also interact with words and questions such as: / Great / Say it again / Do you love me? / Are you hungry? / Yes / No / Kiss / Emma.
In addition, when the mobile telephone (C)
(accessory included) is placed in Emma's left ear, she will hold conversations with her family. If you tickle her tummy (D),
Emma will laugh; she can also interact when you get close to her (E)
and when the light changes (see Fig. 5),*
and when you rock her (F) she will exclaim various phrases (see Fig. 6). *Emma must be in energy-saving mode (see section included in the manual).
Emma will perform various actions if she does not receive any interaction to attract her attention. After about 45 seconds she will say goodbye and she will go into energy-saving mode. To activate her again, interact with her by tickling her. After playing with her, we recommend that you turn the switch to the OFF position so that she is completely turned off.
Emma not responding, a decrease in the volume of the sound, and erratic movement are symptoms of dead batteries; they must be replaced. To restart Emma if you have problems with her becoming blocked or not reacting to words you must press the RESET button (B) which Emma has next to the switch (see Fig. 1). Keep the button pressed for a few seconds for Emma to restart; for easier access, use the tip of a pencil to help you.
When Emma restarts she will have lost the knowledge she had gained and has to start at learning level 1.
